Sosiologian tieteellisiä lehtiä | Sociology journals full-text

Sosiologipäivien kunniaksi Itä-Suomen yliopistossa saatavissa olevia kansainvälisiä, tieteellisiä sosiologian lehtiä.  Listaan on valittu lehtiä Julkaisufoorumin (JUFO) tasoilta 2 ja 3.
Hae lisää lehden nimellä UEF-Finnasta  – tai selaa tieteenalalla.
Muista kirjautua UEF-Finnaan omilla UEF-käyttäjätunnuksillasi.

Itä-Suomen yliopistossa on käytettävissä yli 32 000 tilattua e-lehteä UEF-Primon kautta. Mikä avuksi, jos tästä kokoelmasta ei löydy haluttua artikkelia? Ennen turvautumista maksulliseen kaukopalvelutilaukseen kannattaa kokeilla muutamia uusia artikkelien saantitapoja. Ne perustuvat avoimiin julkaisuarkistoihin, joiden määrä lisääntyy jatkuvasti. Arkistoja ylläpitävät ennen kaikkea yliopistot ja muut tutkimusorganisaatiot. Artikkelit arkistoihin tulevat tekijänoikeuksien näkökulmasta laillisesti, kuten esimerkiksi rinnakkaistallennuksen kautta.

Ongelmana on vain löytää arkisto, josta halutun artikkelin voi mahdollisesti poimia. Yleiset Internetin hakukoneet eivät välttämättä ulotu tällaiseen aineistoon. CORE on tietokanta, johon haravoidaan artikkelit yli 3 600 avoimesta arkistosta maailmanlaajuisesti. DOAJ puolestaan sisältää artikkeleita yli 14000 open access -lehdestä.

Viime aikoina on myös kehitetty Internet-selaimeen asennettavia lisäosia (add-on), jotka etsivät avoimia artikkeleita automaattisesti.

Unpaywall toimii vain Firefox- ja Google Chrome -selaimissa. Etsi aluksi artikkelin tiedot lehden kustantajan sivulta. Selainikkunan oikeaan reunaan ilmestyy vihreä Unpaywall-kuvake, jos artikkeli löytyy jostain avoimesta arkistosta. Kuvaketta klikkaamalla artikkeli avautuu.

Open Access Button toimii parhaimmin Google Chromessa. Etsi artikkelin tiedot lehden kustantajan sivulta ja klikkaa lisäosan kuvaketta selaimen oikeassa yläkulmassa. Tästä avautuu uusi ikkuna, johon mahdollisen avoimen artikkelin saatavuustieto ilmestyy. Open Access Button -palveluun kirjautumalla voit myös pyytää artikkelia suoraan kirjoittajilta.

Google Scholar Button toimii vain Google Chromessa samaan tapaan kuin Open Access Button. Lisäosa ei kuitenkaan avaa artikkelia suoraan, vaan näyttää viitteen Google Scholar -ikkunassa. Tästä pääset etsimään avointa artikkelia.

We have access to more than 32,000 subscribed e-journals in the University of Eastern Finland via UEF Primo. Despite this volume of journals, you may not always find the article you are looking for. Traditional method for getting non-subscribed article is placing an interlibrary order, but this is subject to charges. Today there are alternative, free access paths worth trying. They are based on open access article repositories maintained by universities and other research organizations. These repositories comply with legal aspects, such as copyright.

How can you locate the article in these repositories? General Internet search engines do not necessarily find this kind of material. CORE is a database comprising articles from over 3,600 open access repositories worldwide. DOAJ contains articles from over 14,000 open access journals.

The most recent innovations are browser extensions (add-ons) for finding open articles automatically.

Unpaywall is compatible with Firefox and Google Chrome. To use it, open the article page in journal publisher’s website first. Green Unpaywall icon appears on the right side of browser window if the article is available from a repository. Clicking the icon opens the article.

How to install and use Unpaywall

Open Access Button works best in Google Chrome. Find the article page on the journal publisher’s website and click extension icon in the browser window’s top right corner. This opens a small window showing the article availability. If you login to Open Access Button on their homepage, you may also send an article request directly to authors.

Google Scholar Button is intended for Google Chrome only. Otherwise, it works like Open Access Button. However, instead of opening the article directly, it displays the reference in a Google Scholar window. You can search for the possible open access version here.

Oxfordin lehtikokoelma avoinna! | Oxford journal collection is open!

Itä-Suomen yliopiston artikkelinnälkäiselle poppoolle Oxford University Pressin logo on tuttu näky. Muinon sitä ihailtiin kansilehtykäisen nurkasta, nykyään selaimen yläkulmasta. Kustantaja aiheestakin röyhistelee rintaansa nimekkeillä kuten The Journals of Gerontology, FEMS Microbiology Reviews, Past & Present, Annals of Oncology ja Applied Linguistics. Omien sanojensa mukaan OUP:llä on “eniten lehtiä parhaassa 10 prosentissa impact factoreilla mitattuna”. Siksi onkin ilo kertoa, että vuodelle 2018 yliopiston kausijulkaisukokoelmat täydentyvät Oxford University Pressin Journals-kokoelmalla, jossa on yli 250 uutta lehteä. Lisenssi kattaa tämän vuoden ja lehtien arkistot vuodesta 1996 niiltä osin kuin julkaisuja löytyy. Lehtilista löytyy täältä ja lehtiin pääset UEF-Finnan kautta.

Ja eikä siinä vielä kaikki! Tämän lisäksi Emeraldin lehtikokoelma kasvoi noin sadalla nimekkeellä. Listan lehdistä löydät täältä.

Oxford journal collection is open!

The article-craving researchers at the University of Eastern Finland have seen the Oxford University Press logo many times. In ancient times, the logo was seen on the corner of journal covers, nowadays on the top corner of an Internet browser. The publisher proudly presents journal titles such as The Journals of Gerontology, FEMS Microbiology Reviews, Past & Present, Annals of Oncology and Applied Linguistics. The OUP states that they have the “OUP has the highest percentage of journals in the top 10% by impact factor”. Therefore we are glad to announce that in 2018, the UEF journal collections are expanded with the Journals collection of the Oxford University Press, and it contains more than 250 new journals. The license covers for this year’s journals, along with the journal archives since 1996 whenever possible. A list of these journals can be found here, and you can access the journals via UEF Finna.

And that’s not all! In addition to all the above, the Emerald journal collection expanded with about a hundred titles. You can find a list of the journals here.

Remember to login to UEF Finna, if you are using the journals from outside the campus network!
