Miksi kokoelmaohjelma: Kirjastolle on yliopistossa määritelty tiettyjä tehtäviä. Yhtenä tehtävänä on hankkia, tallettaa ja asettaa käyttöön ajanmukaisia ja yliopiston tarpeisiin sopivia tietoaineistoja. Kokoelmaohjelmassa linjaamme ne aineistotyön periaatteet, jotka tukevat tämän tehtävän toteutumista.
Miten hankinnoista päätetään: Yhteistyö oppiaineiden ja kaikkien asiakkaidemme kanssa on keskeistä, sillä aineistot hankitaan meille tulleiden esitysten pohjalta. Kirjastona meillä on kuitenkin viime kädessä vastuu siitä, että eri tieteenalojen kokoelmia kehitetään tasapuolisesti.
Missä formaatissa: Hankimme aineiston elektronisena aina kun se on mahdollista. Verkkoaineistot parantavat tiedon saavutettavuutta. Yksittäisiä painettuja kirjoja ei tarvitse enää jonottaa, ja varsinkin kurssikirjat ovat nykyisin huomattavasti paremmin saatavissa.
Miten avoin tiede huomioidaan: Tuomme esille avointa tieteellistä tutkimusta liittämällä verkossa olevia avoimia aineistoja kirjaston aineistotietokantaan. Pyrimme myös edistämään avointa tutkimusta tukemalla tahoja, jotka toimivat tieteellisen tiedon avoimuuden edistämiseksi ja lisäämiseksi.
Miten kokoelmia kehitetään: Teemme säännöllisesti määrällistä ja laadullista arviointia varmistaaksemme, että kokoelmat vastaavat asiakkaidemme tarpeita. Valtaosa uudesta hankittavasta aineistosta löytyy digitaalisena verkosta ja painetut kokoelmat pidetään opetuksen ja tutkimuksen kannalta tarkoituksenmukaisina. Tarpeettomaksi käynyt aineisto siirretään Varastokirjastoon.
The library’s collection programme has been updated. What does it mean, what is the collection programme, and what significance does it have for the customer? Below are the key points to note. You can read the compact programme in full on our website.
What is the collection programme for: The university has defined certain tasks for the library. One of these is to procure, store and make available up-to-date information resources that are appropriate to the needs of the university. In the collection programme, we set out the principles of collection work that support this mission.
How are procurements decided on: Cooperation with the disciplines and all our customers is essential as the materials are acquired on the basis of the propositions we receive. However, as a library, we ultimately have the responsibility to ensure that collections from different disciplines are developed equitably.
In what format: The library procures the resources in electronic format wherever possible. Online resources improve the accessibility of information. There is no longer a queue for printed books, and course books in particular are now much more readily available.
How is open science considered: We promote open scientific research by linking online open access materials to the library’s resource database. We also aim to advance open research by supporting organisations that work to promote and increase the openness of scientific information.
How are the collections developed: The collections undergo quantitative and qualitative evaluation to ensure that they fulfil the needs of customers. Most of the new material to be procured is available in digital format online, and the printed collections will be maintained in appropriate form for teaching and research purposes. Material that is no longer needed will be transferred to the National Repository Library.
