Unveiling Hidden Insights: Eye-Tracking Technology

Welcome to the University of Eastern Finland’s Blog! My name is Dr. Mina Azimirad (PhD), and I’m a post doc researcher at the Department of Nursing Science at the University of Eastern Finland. I’m thrilled to share with you the exciting world of eye-tracking technology and its potential in nursing research.

Active Exploration: My Pilot Study in Australia

This past spring 2023, I embarked on a pilot study in Monash University (Australia), utilizing cutting-edge eye-tracking technology. This innovative approach allowed me to delve deeper into managing acute patients and process information in a simulation setting. Special thanks to my research team in Monash university for facilitating the study, and also to Saastominen säätiö and Department of Nursing Science for funding this study visit.

The Power of Gaze: What Eye-Tracking Revealed

By tracking participants’ eye movements, I was able to gain valuable insights into their competencies when managing an acute patient. This innovative approach has the potential to revolutionize nursing education and clinical practice by providing objective measures of clinical competence and identifying areas for improvement. Special thanks to Sairaanhoitajien koulutussäätiö for funding the data analysis of this study.

Success Breeds Collaboration: Joining FinETS

The experience in Australia further fueled my passion for eye-tracking research. Recently, I became a member of the FinETS community (Finland’s Eye-Tracking Researchers’ Seminar). This dynamic network allows me to connect with fellow researchers across Finland, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
