Exploring career opportunities at UEF Forest Sciences Career Event
The career event organised by the School of Forest Sciences was held on 19 November 2025 at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) campus in Joensuu. At the event, students had the chance to learn about companies and organisations in the forestry and environmental fields, find internship opportunities, explore future career possibilities, and network with professionals.

The goal of the Forest Sciences Career Event is to increase students’ awareness of employers in the field, provide information about job opportunities, offer a chance for recruitment, and above all, promote interaction between students and employers. The career event gives students new insights into different types of jobs, a chance to find an internship, or at least a clearer idea of the different career paths.

Head of School Jukka Tikkanen opened the event with welcoming words to 80 forestry students from different study years, including international participants
This year, various organisations from the forestry and environmental sectors attended the event, including larger industries, smaller companies, and associations. Some employers offered internships, further study opportunities, thesis topics, and longer-term jobs after graduation. The event brought together 80 forestry students from different study years, including international students. The atmosphere was lively, and many students found the event helpful for thinking about their own career plans.

Company presentations kicked off the event, with organisations introducing their work and internship opportunities to students.
The event started with short presentations from each organisation, where they introduced their work and possible internship opportunities. After the presentations, students moved to the stands, where they could have informal and relaxed conversations with the representatives. The discussions covered recruitment questions, study tips, the career paths of the professionals, and different tasks in their work. For many students, this was the most important part of the evening, as it gave them the chance to hear directly from experts and ask questions about working life.
