About

EAST MEETS WEST is a blog of School of Theology at the University of Eastern Finland. (UEF) The School of Theology as part of the UEF belongs to the state university, which makes the researchers independent but not isolated from the society and environment around it. East Meets West is not only about the Eastern and Western branches of Christianity. It is a wider concept under which religions and their connections to the diversity of life can be studied. The blog aims to provide research-based information and facilitate interaction between East and West, engaging with questions of theological and ecumenical encounters, the modern world’s challenges for religions and theologies and questions of well-being. All of these issues are important to the hub of this blog: the School of Theology, where Orthodox and Western theology are creatively and critically taught and researched not only side by side but together.
