New training starts: Self-Employment Now and in the Future

The second iteration of our self-employment training started two weeks ago with a new name and an updated programme featuring new trainers and company guests. The training covers the basics of self-employment, such as changes in working life, skill development, support services for new entrepreneurs and international talents, digital tools for entrepreneurs and networking.

The training is aimed at students and recent graduates who wish to update their skills and discover new employment options. It is also a great introduction to Finnish working life for international talents.

We began the training with an overview of modern Finnish working life led by Chief Specialist Sinimaaria Ranki (Finnish Institute of Occupational Health), focusing on remote work, digital tools, and their impact on employees. Building on this theme, Principal Lecturer Jari Kupiainen (Karelia University of Applied Sciences) gave us an insightful presentation on the creative economy of North Karelia. He highlighted the industry’s demands, the role of digitalisation in the field, and opportunities for students to get involved.

We will share more highlights from the training here on our blog. Stay tuned!
