About the blog

Welcome to UEF’s blog “On the move”! This blog gives you glimpses into what it’s like to be a UEFian and on the move. Here you will find posts by students, teachers and other staff members who are taking part in a mobility scheme, both in Finland and worldwide.

Originally, this blog was opened to collect insights into UEF’s engagement with the Erasmus+ Global Mobility Programme. As of 2018, we will expand the scope of the blog and collect stories and reports from all nationalities and countries, whether they are part of this specific programme or not.

We are looking forward to showing you the diversity here at UEF – and worldwide.

Erasmus+ Global Mobility

Erasmus+ mobility for higher education institutions has expanded in 2015 to cover the partner countries outside Europe. This global mobility (International Credit Mobility with Partner Countries) includes student mobility, teaching staff and other staff mobility between the EU programme countries and its partner countries.

During the first round in spring 2015 the University of Eastern Finland got funding for student mobility, teaching staff and other staff mobility with partner universities located in four EU partner countries: South Korea, China, Serbia and Morocco. In 2016 further partnerships followed with Ecuador, India, and the United States of America. 2017 we added Egypt, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Palestine to the list of partner countries. Each funding period lasts for 2 years. Below you can find a more detailed list of our past and current partnerships.

Part of the global mobility funding is targeted to certain fields, part is open for all fields. For more information on applying for student mobility, teaching staff and other staff mobility, please contact Kirsi Karjalainen.
