Piloting Data Management Systems with Early Interventions at UEF
We recently completed the piloting of the Data Management Systems course at the University of Eastern Finland as part of the ISILA project, which focuses on improving the quality and sustainability of learning through early intervention methods supported by learning analytics.
The pilot explored how data-driven insights can help identify student needs at an early stage and provide timely support to enhance learning experiences. By combining information from course activities, surveys, and engagement patterns, we were able to design both general and personalized interventions that addressed challenges such as low participation, missed assignments, or increased stress levels.
The outcomes highlighted the value of proactive approaches: while some students responded positively and improved their learning habits, others required more continuous guidance. These insights will help us refine strategies in future iterations, aiming to make learning more inclusive, engaging, and supportive for diverse learners.
