Books and journals form the foundation for the scientific publishing. The so called <strong>predatory journals<\/strong> imitate the real ones, but they don&#8217;t have a proper peer-review process or even editors. They just collect money for the articles that are not printable in real scientific journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Characteristics to predator journals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>they tell that all articles are peer-reviewed, but still the articles can be published within just couple of weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>they might tell, that the articles are indexed in scientific databases like Scopus, but the are not<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the articles or the journals are truly indexed in certain databases, but these are not scientific information databases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the information given about the journal publisher is false or otherwise contradictory (for instance the journal is called <em>European journal of &#8230;.<\/em>, but the publisher is not located in Europe)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the journal appears at the <a href=\"https:\/\/primo.uef.fi\/permalink\/358FIN_UOEF\/mhajq\/alma9914847732005966&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cabells Predatory Reports<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Features of truly scientific journals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>journal has an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/en\/library\/research-evaluation#accordion-7022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">impact factor -indicator<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>journal is listed in Finnish <a href=\"https:\/\/jfp.csc.fi\/en\/web\/haku\/?restartApplication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Publication forum<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>journal has an established publisher, like Springer or Elsevier, or well-known scientific society or association<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>One good indicator for a truly scientific journal is, that it is indexed on <span lang=\"en\">recognised<\/span> databases.
