The purpose of the Ministry of Education and Culture for collecting publication data is to get a knowledge base on the research activities and the social impact of the Finnish research system. The Ministry uses the publication data collected from higher education institutions for calculating the basic funding allocated to universities and universities of applied sciences, but also for otherwise monitoring research and development activities.<\/p>\n<p>Statistics on the number of publications are available in the Vipunen statistics service (see below) of the Finnish National Board of Education. The publication data collected can be openly viewed in the JUULI publication data portal (see below). In addition, the national information resource, VIRTA publication data service, will make the information produced by publications within the Finnish research system available for other services.<\/p>\n<p>At UEF, researchers report their publications to <a href=\"https:\/\/uef.cris.fi\/\">UEF CRIS<\/a> (more information in 4. module: Publishing and Research Visibility). In UEF CRIS, you may explore the UEF experts, their publications, projects and scientific activities.<\/p>\n<h2>Research.fi (Tiedejatutkimus.fi)<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/research.fi\/en\/\">Research.fi<\/a> (Tiedejatutkimus.fi) is a service offered by the Ministry of Education and Culture that collects and shares information on research conducted in Finland. The service improves the location of information and experts on research and increases the visibility and societal impact of Finnish research. The service was launched in June 2020 and will be developed in phases.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5694\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/ueflibrarypostgrad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2020\/09\/Research.fi_.jpg\" alt=\"Research.fi logo\" width=\"222\" height=\"77\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>JUULI<\/h2>\n<p>(Juuli -service will be closed at the end of November 2022. Users of the service are then directed to the Tiedejatutkimus.fi -portal, which contains the same publication information.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juuli.fi\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Juuli publications portal <\/a>provides a tool for browsing and searching for information on publications by Finnish research organisations. The data have been obtained from the research organisations as part of the annual data collection conducted by the Ministry of Education and Culture.<\/p>\n<p>The publications of Finnish universities and hospital districts are included starting from the year 2011, and the publications of the universities of applied sciences starting from 2012. A number of state research institutes have joined the data collection starting from 2014 and 2015.<\/p>\n<p>In Juuli portal there is no citation information or any bibliometric indexes, but you can find publications by organisations, the fields of science, publication types, languages, years etc.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-977 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/ueflibrarypostgrad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2017\/05\/juuli_advanced_search.png\" alt=\"Screen capture on JUULI database. In advanced search you can e.g. limit your search to institution, field of science, type of publication, suborganization, publication forum class or open access type.\" width=\"950\" height=\"875\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/ueflibrarypostgrad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2017\/05\/juuli_advanced_search.png 950w, https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/ueflibrarypostgrad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2017\/05\/juuli_advanced_search-768x707.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 950px) 100vw, 950px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>University-specific publication data can be browsed in the <a href=\"http:\/\/juuli.fi\/juuliohje-en.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">research information systems of\u00a0each university<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>VIPUNEN<\/h2>\n<p>Statistical analyses on publication data can be obtained from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vipunen.fi\/en-gb\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vipunen<\/a> reporting portal.
