There are a large number of data repositories, both general repositories and discipline-specific repositories which focus on a particular research discipline. Repositories may be free for researchers to upload their data or they may charge a fee for hosting the data. The researcher can choose the repository that best suits the data and the discipline.
In case the data can’t be shared, it is recommended that the metadata is stored to the data searching service Etsin. UEF eRepository collects the metadata of UEF researchers’ research data from several different data services, including Etsin. Opening metadata brings visibility to the data and to the research itself even in cases when the actual data can’t be opened for some reason. If the data can’t be opened, it must be justified in the data management plan.
