Hei vain kaikille! Nimeni on Atte Kivipato ja olin UEFin kirjastossa ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n tutustumassa (TET) viikolla 21. K\u00e4yn Hatsalan Klassillista koulua ja asun Rautaniemess\u00e4, Kuopiossa. Olen kaksikielisell\u00e4 kahdeksannella luokalla. Lempiaineitani ovat v\u00e4h\u00e4n kaikki eik\u00e4 inhokkeja ole, mutta kemia ja biologia ovat kyll\u00e4 parasta. Harrastukseni ovat judo ja tennis, sek\u00e4 lukeminen ep\u00e4virallisena harrastuksena. Lempilukemistani ovat fantasiakirjat. Kun opin lukemaan nelj\u00e4vuotiaana, aloitin Disney-tarinoista ja siirryin sitten J. K. Rowlingiin. Niist\u00e4 alkoi pakkomielteeni fantasiaan. Tunnetuimmat lukemani sarjat ovat Harry Potter<\/em>it, Ursula Le Guinin Maameren tarinat<\/em>, J. R. R. Tolkienin Taru sormusten herrasta<\/em> ja George R. R. Martinin Tulen ja j\u00e4\u00e4n laulu<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TET-harjoitteluani kirjastossa ohjasi tietopalveluneuvoja Piia Pietarinen. TET:ssa ty\u00f6nkuvaani kuului kirjojen hyllytt\u00e4minen, asiakastietolomakkeiden aakkostaminen, Kuopion kampuskirjaston ja KYSin tieteellisen kirjaston asiakaspalveluissa auttaminen, t\u00e4m\u00e4n blogin kirjoittaminen ja kahvin juominen. Lis\u00e4ksi auttelin muissakin hommissa toisia kirjaston ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6it\u00e4. Ty\u00f6ss\u00e4 oli paljon opittavaa varsinkin v\u00e4h\u00e4n sekavan kurssikirjojen hyllytystavan ja KYSin kirjaston erilaisen hyllytt\u00e4mistavan takia. Kaikki, jotka TET-viikkoni aikana tapasin olivat – ja viel\u00e4 ovat – eritt\u00e4in mukavia, hauskoja, avuliaita ja helposti l\u00e4hestytt\u00e4vi\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ensimm\u00e4inen TET-p\u00e4iv\u00e4ni alkoi maanantaina 20.5. klo 9:00 ja ty\u00f6p\u00e4iv\u00e4ni alkoivat senkin j\u00e4lkeen joka p\u00e4iv\u00e4 noin yhdeks\u00e4lt\u00e4. Olin tosi j\u00e4nnittynyt ja v\u00e4h\u00e4n pelotti, mutta kun saavuin paikalle v\u00e4h\u00e4n ennen kuin piti ja tapasin kaikki mukavat ihmiset, j\u00e4nnitys l\u00e4hti pois (kliseist\u00e4, eik\u00f6 vain). Sitten Piia esitteli ty\u00f6tilat ja kirjaston henkil\u00f6kuntaa ja he kertoivat heid\u00e4n ty\u00f6teht\u00e4vist\u00e4\u00e4n, esimerkiksi Eeva n\u00e4ytti minulle kirjojen hankintaa ja kaukopalvelua, Tuula n\u00e4ytti h\u00e4nen opetustilojaan ja kertoi enemm\u00e4n ty\u00f6st\u00e4\u00e4n, Ulla n\u00e4ytti kellarin ja Tuulevi tietokantoja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oli eritt\u00e4in kiinnostavaa n\u00e4hd\u00e4 mit\u00e4 kaikkea eri ihmiset tekev\u00e4t ja kuinka paljon enemm\u00e4n henkil\u00f6kuntaa kirjaston yll\u00e4pit\u00e4miseen tarvitaan, kuin mit\u00e4 luulin. Sitten Ulla opetti kuinka eri kirjat j\u00e4rjestell\u00e4\u00e4n hyllyihin ja miten eri kirjat eroavat toisistaan. Esimerkiksi kurssikirjat vain lajitellaan aakkosten mukaan, mutta aihepiirin kirjat lajiteltiin samassa aihepiiriss\u00e4 aakkosten mukaan. Hyllytin kirjoja pitkin TET-viikkoa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

K\u00e4vin sy\u00f6m\u00e4ss\u00e4 muun henkil\u00f6kunnan kanssa yliopiston ruokalassa koko viikon ajan. Jouduin maksamaan ruuasta itse, mutta sain henkil\u00f6kunta-alennuksen ja koululta korvauksen TET-viikon lopuksi. Itse ainakin yll\u00e4tyin siit\u00e4, miten paljon parempaa ruoka on kuin koulussa ja miten hyvin ajateltuja annoksia siell\u00e4 on l\u00e4pi viikon, ja my\u00f6s kasvis- ja keittolounasmahdollisuudet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u00e4lill\u00e4 kun oli aikaa tai sopiva hetki, aakkostin asiakastietolomakkeita. Sain k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6ni ty\u00f6p\u00f6yd\u00e4n, tuolin, aakkostamisv\u00e4lineen, rei’itt\u00e4j\u00e4n ja kansiot. Itse sukunimen mukaan lajittelu v\u00e4lineeseen oli eritt\u00e4in helppoa, mutta kun alkoi kerty\u00e4 tiettyyn kohtaan aika paljon lappuja, tuli v\u00e4h\u00e4n paniikki, ett\u00e4 ”Miten min\u00e4 p\u00e4rj\u00e4\u00e4n n\u00e4itten monenkymmenen lapun kanssa?”<\/em> Lopulta homma alkoi sujua ja sain aakkostettua kirjaimet A-J. Tein aakkostusty\u00f6t\u00e4 keskiviikkoon asti, jolloin sain ty\u00f6n valmiiksi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u00e4lill\u00e4 Piia p\u00e4ivysti asiakaspalvelutiskill\u00e4 ja esitteli minulle samalla lainaus- ja palautussysteemin. K\u00e4vin my\u00f6skin KYSin tieteellisess\u00e4 kirjastossa Piian kanssa ty\u00f6skentelem\u00e4ss\u00e4 ja kirjoittamassa blogia. Blogiin sain mallia yliopiston ja yliopiston kirjaston blogeista ja koneelle p\u00e4\u00e4sin kirjautumaan niin sanotuilla p\u00e4iv\u00e4tunnuksilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ty\u00f6p\u00e4iv\u00e4ni loppuivat tavallisesti noin klo 15:00 ja l\u00e4hdin hyvill\u00e4 mielin kotiin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hello everyone! My name is Atte Kivipato and I was in a work practice program (WPP, a mandatory activity in secondary school where students have to find a workplace to learn working skills for one week) here in the UEF Library during the week 21. I go to school at the Hatsala Classical School and I live in Rautaniemi, Kuopio. I am currently in the 8th grade and go to a bilingual class. My favourite subjects are pretty much everything they teach to us and I don’t really have a least favourite subject, but the most fun out of them are chemistry and biology. I’m into judo and tennis and also enjoy reading books. My favorite genre is fantasy. When I learned to read at the age of four, I started reading Disney stories and from them I moved on to J. K. Rowling. That started my obsession with fantasy. The most well-known book series which I have read are the Harry Potters<\/em>, Earthsea <\/em>by Ursula Le Guin, the Lord of the Rings<\/em> by J. R. R. Tolkien and the Song of Ice and Fire<\/em> by George R. R. Martin.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My WPP week in the UEF Library was monitored by information services advisor Piia Pietarinen. My tasks included shelving books, putting customer forms in alphabetical order, assisting in customer services at the Kuopio Campus Library and KUH Medical Library, writing this blog and drinking coffee. I also helped the other staff members. There was a lot to learn in this job, especially because of the confusing shelf order and because the KUH Medical Library has a different shelving system. Everybody I met during my WPP week was super nice, funny, helpful and easy to get to know.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My first WPP day started on Monday, the 20th of May at 9 o’clock and my days continued to start at about 9 o’clock. I was extremely nervous and somewhat scared on my first day, but when I arrived at my workplace a bit early and got to know everyone, all the nervousness went away (clich\u00e9, I know right). Then Piia showed me around and introduced the staff to me and they told me what they do in their work. For example, Eeva showed me how she buys books and how the interlibrary system works, Tuula showed me her teaching rooms and she also told me more about her job, Ulla showed me the library basement and Tuulevi told me about the different library databases.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was very interesting to see what the library staff members do and how much more staff than I thought was needed to run the library. Then Ulla showed me how different books were arranged on the shelves and how the different types of books varied from each other. For example, course books are arranged differently than other books which are arranged according to their topic in alphabetical order. I continued with that job throughout my WPP week.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had lunch with the rest of the staff at the university’s cafeteria for the whole week. I had to pay for the food myself, but I got a staff discount and I’ll get a small refund from the school after the WPP week is done. I was surprised to see, how much better the food here was than at my school and how well thought out the menu was throughout the week. There was the possibility to choose a normal lunch, a soup or a vegetarian option.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I had time or a good moment, I arranged customer forms. Early on, arranging them was easy, but after I saw how many forms there were, I got into a small panic like ”How am I going to manage with all these papers?”<\/em> Then it started to roll and I managed to arrange the forms from letter A to J. I arranged the forms until Wednesday when I got them all done.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes Piia worked at the library’s customer service desk and explained the loan system to me. I also went to the KUH Medical Library to work there and to write this post. I got an idea of how to do the blog post by looking into the university’s and the library’s blogs. I gained access to the computer by acquiring a one-day visitor username and password.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My days usually ended around 15 o’clock and I went home in a good mood.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
