Kansainv\u00e4linen Open Education<\/bdo> -viikko (2.-6.3.2026, tunnetaan Suomessa my\u00f6s Jaa jotain -viikkona) tarjoaa joka vuosi tilaisuuden pys\u00e4hty\u00e4 pohtimaan, miksi avoimen oppimisen edist\u00e4minen on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, ei vain yksitt\u00e4isille opiskelijoille tai opettajille, vaan koko tiedeyhteis\u00f6lle ja yhteiskunnalle. Avoimuus tekee oppimisesta saavutettavampaa ja se kutsuu jakamaan, kokeilemaan ja rakentamaan uutta yhdess\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEFissa avoimen oppimisen edist\u00e4miseksi viime vuosina tehty ty\u00f6 alkaa pikkuhiljaa n\u00e4ky\u00e4 konkreettisina tekoina ja kehittyvin\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6in\u00e4. Olemme muun muassa urakoineet UEFin avoimen oppimisen linjauksen ja toimenpideohjelman, p\u00e4ivitt\u00e4neet verkkosivut, lis\u00e4nneet avointa oppimista jatko-opintoihin, selvitt\u00e4neet avoimille oppimateriaaleille sopivia julkaisu- ja tallennusalustoja ja rakentaneet avoimen oppimisen tukipalvelua. Kirjasto koordinoi koko avoimen tieteen kokonaisuutta, johon my\u00f6s avoin oppiminen kuuluu. K\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n ty\u00f6 kuitenkin tapahtuu eri yksik\u00f6iden yhteisty\u00f6n\u00e4, muun muassa vapaaehtoisista koostuvan avoimen oppimisen toimijaverkoston kautta. My\u00f6s kansallinen yhteisty\u00f6<\/a> on keskeisess\u00e4 roolissa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoimen tieteen ja tutkimuksen linjausta<\/a> tukeva avoimen oppimisen toimenpideohjelma<\/a> antavat l\u00e4hivuosille suunnan, jota kohti olemme avoimen oppimisen saralla matkaamassa. Toimenpideohjelma sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4 konkreettisia tekoja, joilla oppimisen ja opetuksen avoimuutta vahvistetaan osana yliopiston arkea. Ohjelma toimii tiekarttana: se auttaa tunnistamaan, miss\u00e4 olemme jo vahvoja ja miss\u00e4 on viel\u00e4 varaa kehitty\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoimen tieteen kokonaisuuteen kuuluvat avoimen oppimisen verkkosivut<\/a> on my\u00f6s p\u00e4ivitetty. Sivuilta l\u00f6yd\u00e4t tietoa avoimen oppimisen tukipalvelusta sek\u00e4 ohjeita avointen oppimateriaalien l\u00f6yt\u00e4miseen, hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4miseen ja tekemiseen. Toivottavasti uudistetut sivut tekev\u00e4t avoimesta oppimisesta helposti l\u00e4hestytt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 ja madaltavat kynnyst\u00e4 avata omia oppimateriaaleja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEFin kirjasto on avannut yhteisen palveluosoitteen (openeducation@uef.fi), jonka kautta yliopiston opetus- ja asiantuntijahenkil\u00f6st\u00f6 saa kirjaston koordinoimana neuvontaa avoimen oppimisen toteuttamiseen sek\u00e4 avointen oppimateriaalien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n, tuottamiseen ja jakamiseen. Tukipalvelusta saat vinkkej\u00e4 ja opastusta muun muassa oppimateriaalien avaamisen, tekij\u00e4noikeuksien, CC-lisenssien ja saavutettavuuden kysymyksiss\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoin oppiminen ei ole irrallinen kokonaisuus, vaan kiinte\u00e4 osa avointa ja vastuullista tiedett\u00e4. Avointa oppimista voi opiskella jatko-opiskelijoille suunnatulla Basics of Open and Responsible Science -opintojaksolla<\/a>. Opintojaksoa muokattiin moduulirakenteiseksi siten, ett\u00e4 mukana on avoimen oppimisen moduuli. Moduulin k\u00e4yty\u00e4\u00e4n opiskelijalla on perustiet\u00e4mys avoimesta oppimisesta sek\u00e4 valmiudet avointen oppimateriaalien hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4miseen ja tekemiseen. Oppimateriaali<\/a> on avoimesti saatavilla, tietenkin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoin oppiminen on tapa tehd\u00e4 tiedett\u00e4 ja opetusta kest\u00e4v\u00e4mm\u00e4ksi ja saavutettavammaksi. Kun oppimateriaaleja, menetelmi\u00e4 ja osaamista jaetaan avoimesti, voi parhaimmillaan avautua mahdollisuuksia, joita yksin ty\u00f6skentelem\u00e4ll\u00e4 ei v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 syntyisi. Avoimuus on investointi tulevaisuuteen, jossa oppimisen mahdollisuudet ovat kaikkien ulottuvilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Open Education Week (2\u20136 March 2026) offers an annual opportunity to reflect on why promoting open education matters, not only for individual students or teachers, but for the entire research community and society. Openness makes learning more accessible and invites us to share, experiment, and build new things together.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At UEF, the work done in recent years to advance open education is gradually becoming visible in concrete actions and evolving practices. We have, for example, developed UEF\u2019s Open Education Policy and Action Plan, updated our website, integrated open education into doctoral studies, explored suitable platforms for open educational resources, and built support services for open education. The library coordinates the overall open science framework, of which open education is a part. In practice, the work is carried out collaboratively across units, including through the volunteer-based UEF open education network. National collaboration<\/a> also plays a key role.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Open education Action plan<\/a>, supporting the UEF Open Science and Research Policy<\/a>, sets the direction for the coming years. It outlines concrete steps to strengthen the openness of learning and teaching as part of the university\u2019s everyday practices. The plan serves as a roadmap: it helps us identify where we are already strong and where there is still room to develop.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The open education website<\/a> was updated as well. There you can find information about the open education support service, as well as guidance on finding, using, and creating open educational resources. We hope the renewed pages make open education more approachable and encourage you to open your own materials.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEF Library launched a shared service address (openeducation@uef.fi) offering university teaching and expert staff guidance on open education and the use, creation, and sharing of open educational resources. The support service provides advice on topics such as opening materials, copyright, CC licenses, and accessibility.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open education is not a separate entity but an integral part of open and responsible science. Open education can be studied in the Basics of Open and Responsible Science online course<\/a> designed for doctoral students. The course was restructured into modules, now including an open education module. After completing it, students gain basic knowledge of open education and the skills needed to use and create open educational resources. Naturally, the study material<\/a> is openly available.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open education is a way to make science and teaching more sustainable and accessible. By sharing learning materials, methods, and expertise openly, we create space for opportunities that might not arise when working alone. Openness is an investment in a future where learning opportunities are within everyone\u2019s reach.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
