Olen harjoittelun aikana p\u00e4\u00e4ssyt tekem\u00e4\u00e4n niin paljon erilaisia ty\u00f6teht\u00e4vi\u00e4 sek\u00e4 kuulemaan erilaisia perehdytyksi\u00e4, ett\u00e4 tuntuisi miltei mahdottomalta listata niit\u00e4 kaikkia t\u00e4ss\u00e4. Niinp\u00e4 yrit\u00e4n tiivist\u00e4\u00e4 harjoittelun sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4piirteisiins\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ty\u00f6harjoitteluni alkoi elokuussa yleisemm\u00e4ll\u00e4 tutustumisella Joensuun kampuskirjastoon, sen tiloihin ja kokoelmiin, ja ylip\u00e4\u00e4ns\u00e4 siell\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelyyn. T\u00e4m\u00e4n lis\u00e4ksi p\u00e4\u00e4sin tutustumaan tarkemmin my\u00f6s tietoaineistopalveluiden ty\u00f6teht\u00e4viin, kuten poistojen tekemiseen kirjaston kokoelmista sek\u00e4 uuden aineiston hankintaan ja saapumisk\u00e4sittelyyn. Syyskuussa vuorossa olivat asiakaspalvelut sek\u00e4 opetus- ja tietopalvelut, mik\u00e4 tarkoitti useiden perehdytysten lis\u00e4ksi luonnollisesti my\u00f6s asiakaspalvelutiskiss\u00e4 p\u00e4ivyst\u00e4mist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 tiedonhaun opetustunnin tarkkailua. Lis\u00e4ksi keskusteltiin avoimesta tieteest\u00e4 ja ett\u00e4 mit\u00e4 se tarkoittaa kirjaston kannalta. P\u00e4\u00e4sin my\u00f6s seuraamaan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/fi\/kirjasto\/asiakkaana#accordion-15054\">Celia-asiakkuuden<\/a> tekemist\u00e4, ja olin mukana yliopiston kirjaston pisteell\u00e4 uusien opiskelijoiden infomarkkinoilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lokakuussa tutustuin kirjaston verkko- ja julkaisupalveluiden toimintaan. T\u00e4m\u00e4 tarkoitti monia mielenkiintoisia esityksi\u00e4 esimerkiksi erilaisista j\u00e4rjestelmist\u00e4, jotka ovat kirjastohenkil\u00f6kunnan k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4. Yksi ehk\u00e4 kiinnostavimmista esityksist\u00e4 k\u00e4sitteli kirjastoj\u00e4rjestelmien historiaa erityisesti Joensuun kampuskirjastolla. Tein my\u00f6s muutamia pienimuotoisia ty\u00f6teht\u00e4vi\u00e4, joiden aiheena oli avoin oppiminen. Lis\u00e4ksi p\u00e4\u00e4sin vierailemaan Kuopion kampuskirjastolla, KYSin kirjastolla, sek\u00e4 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/fi\/kirjasto\/vapaakappaleet\">vapaakappaleyksik\u00f6ss\u00e4<\/a> Joensuussa. Vierailut olivat todella mielenkiintoisia, sill\u00e4 molemmilla kampuskirjastoilla on aivan oma tunnelmansa. Vapaakappaleyksikk\u00f6 taas yll\u00e4tti laajuudellaan, sill\u00e4 aina kun ajattelin, ett\u00e4 t\u00e4m\u00e4n on pakko olla t\u00e4ss\u00e4, l\u00f6ytyi jonkin nurkan takaa lis\u00e4\u00e4 hyllyj\u00e4 t\u00e4ynn\u00e4 aineistoa. Marraskuussa keskusteltiin kirjaston hallinnon asioista ja ett\u00e4 mink\u00e4lainen vaikutus yliopiston s\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6ill\u00e4 ja linjauksilla on kirjaston hallintoon. Olin my\u00f6s mukana Joensuun kampuskirjaston ryhm\u00e4ty\u00f6tilakyselyn suunnittelussa. Nyt joulukuussa olen puolestaan saanut itsen\u00e4isesti jatkaa jo aiemmin opittuja ty\u00f6teht\u00e4vi\u00e4, vaikka uuttakin asiaa on hyvin ehtinyt viel\u00e4 mahtua sinne ja t\u00e4nne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u00e4pi koko harjoittelun olen aikatauluni sen mahdollistaessa py\u00f6rinyt mukana asiakaspalveluvuoroissa, ja omaksi yll\u00e4tyksekseni olen my\u00f6s pit\u00e4nyt asiakaspalvelussa p\u00e4ivyst\u00e4misest\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n kuin uskalsin odottaa. Kokoelmiin liittyv\u00e4t teht\u00e4v\u00e4t ovat my\u00f6s olleet eritt\u00e4in vahvasti mukana koko syksyn ajan: olen p\u00e4\u00e4ssyt tekem\u00e4\u00e4n poistoja, ottamaan vastaan uusia kirjoja ja lehti\u00e4, tekem\u00e4\u00e4n selk\u00e4tarroja kirjoihin, hyllytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n palautettuja kirjoja, kuvailemaan aineistoa, pakkaamaan Varastokirjastoon l\u00e4hetett\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 aineistoa ja korjaamaan lainassa k\u00e4rsineit\u00e4 kirjoja. Olen my\u00f6s p\u00e4\u00e4ssyt postittamaan kirjoja kaukolainaan muihin kirjastoihin ja ollut mukana kasaamassa (useimpia) syksyn fyysisi\u00e4 aineiston\u00e4yttelyit\u00e4 Joensuun kampuskirjastolla. Lis\u00e4ksi olen osallistunut moniin erilaisiin tiimipalavereihin ja ty\u00f6ryhmien kokouksiin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Viimeiset viisi kuukautta ovatkin olleet eritt\u00e4in mielenkiintoisia (ja kiehtovia, j\u00e4nnitt\u00e4vi\u00e4, mukaansatempaavia, plus joukko muita synonyymeja), ja tuntuu ett\u00e4 olen oppinut paljon. Minulla on ylip\u00e4\u00e4ns\u00e4 paljon ajatuksia kuluneesta syksyst\u00e4 ja ty\u00f6harjoittelusta, mutta niiden pukeminen sanoiksi on yll\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4n haastavaa. T\u00e4m\u00e4 syksy, ja sen mukana harjoittelu, ovat menneet todella nopeasti, enk\u00e4 osaa kuvitella, ett\u00e4 ne olisivat t\u00e4m\u00e4n mukavammin voineet menn\u00e4k\u00e4\u00e4n. Syksy on kulunut todella nopeasti varmasti osittain kirjaston henkil\u00f6kunnan ansiosta. Harjoitteluni ei varmasti olisi ollut edes puoleksi n\u00e4in hyv\u00e4 tai mielenkiintoinen ilman kirjaston henkil\u00f6kuntaa, joka on pyyt\u00e4nyt minua mukaan kokeilemaan sit\u00e4 tai t\u00e4t\u00e4 ty\u00f6teht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 ja tarttunut heti niihin muutamiin toiveisiin, joita minulla on harkan sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00f6n ollut. Ty\u00f6kaverit ovat ylip\u00e4\u00e4ns\u00e4 olleet todella mukavia. Now, as I write this, we\u2019re nearly halfway through December, and my internship at Joensuu Campus Library is almost over. During my internship I\u2019ve had the chance to do so much and hear so many presentations on different topics, that it feels near impossible to list all of them here. Because of this I\u2019m going to try and summarize the main points from the last five months.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My internship began in August with a more general look into the Joensuu Campus Library, both working here, as well as the library building and the collections themselves. In addition to this I was introduced more closely to the work done in library\u2019s collection services, such as removals, and acquisition. In September it was the turn for customer services, and training and information services. Naturally this meant, besides the many presentations, that I got to work at the customer service desk, and to attend few lessons of one of the many information skills -courses. There was also a presentation on open science, and more specifically: what it means for the library. I also had the chance to sit in on a meeting with a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/en\/library\/as-a-customer#accordion-15054\">Celia customer<\/a>, and to be at Joensuu Campus Library\u2019s booth at the information market for the new students.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In October I got to know more about the library IT and publishing services. This meant many interesting presentations on, for example, the different systems and programs that are used by the library staff in their work. One of the perhaps most interesting of these presentations dealt with the history of library management systems especially here at Joensuu Campus Library. In addition to these presentations, I had some light duties themed around open learning. I also had the chance to visit both the Kuopio Campus Library and KUH Medical Library, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/en\/library\/legal-deposit-copies\">legal deposit collection<\/a> unit here in Joensuu. The visits were highly interesting, because the campus libraries have very different atmospheres. The legal deposit collection unit surprised me with its size, as whenever I thought that this has got to be all of it, we\u2019d turn another corner and find more shelves with more materials on them. In November we talked about the administrative work that is done in the library, and how it is affected by the regulations set by the university itself. I also helped with the planning for the questionnaire regarding the Joensuu Campus Library group study rooms. Now, in December, I have mostly just continued with the now familiar work tasks, though there have been some learning moments here and there.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Throughout the whole internship I have, when my schedule has allowed it, accompanied the library staff at the customer service desk, and to my surprise I have liked the work at the customer service desk more than I dared to hope for. Duties regarding the library\u2019s collections have also been strongly featured in my schedule during the whole autumn: I\u2019ve made removals, received new books and magazines, made shelving stickers for books, shelved returns, bibliographically described the books in the library management system ALMA, packed books that were to be sent to The National Repository Library in Kuopio, and helped fix books that have taken damage while on loan. I have also had the chance to post interlibrary loans to other libraries, as well as to aid with the planning and construction of (most of) this autumn\u2019s physical book exhibitions at the Joensuu Campus Library. In addition to all of this, I\u2019ve also listened in on many, many different staff meetings for all types of smaller teams and workgroups.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The last five months have been highly interesting (and fascinating, exciting, intriguing, plus several other related words), and I do believe I\u2019ve learned a lot. I do have a lot of thoughts about this past autumn and the internship, but it is surprisingly difficult to figure out how to put those thoughts into words. This past autumn, and with it my internship, have gone by faster than I expected and I cannot imagine how they could have possibly been any better. That this autumn has gone by so fast, is more than likely partially thanks to the all the staff here at the UEF Library. My internship likely wouldn\u2019t have been half as good and interesting without the library staff, who have asked me to come with them to try out this or that work task, taken immediately to fulfilling the few wishes about the content of my internship that I\u2019ve had, and generally been really nice and awesome to work with.
