Hei! Olen Tuija, kirjaston tietoj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4asiantuntija a.k.a. ATK-mummo. Ty\u00f6ni ytimess\u00e4 ovat avoin tiede, FAIR-periaatteet, tutkimusaineistojen hallinta ja UEF-Primo. Tieni t\u00e4h\u00e4n pisteeseen ei ole ollut aivan suoraviivainen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aloitin urani kultasepp\u00e4n\u00e4 (kuten Leonardo da Vinci), valmistuin Lahden muotoiluinstituutista vuonna 1991. Ty\u00f6skentelin alalla kymmenen vuotta, ja ehk\u00e4 merkitt\u00e4vin yksitt\u00e4inen ty\u00f6ni oli Varkauden kaupunginjohtajan k\u00e4\u00e4dyt. Terveydellisist\u00e4 syist\u00e4 jouduin kuitenkin vaihtamaan alaa ja p\u00e4\u00e4dyin tietojenk\u00e4sittelyn maailmaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opiskelin ensin ohjelmointia Kuopion Tekussa ja jatkoin siit\u00e4 Kuopion yliopistoon tietojenk\u00e4sittelytieteiden pariin. V\u00e4it\u00f6sty\u00f6ni<\/a> tein osana INDEHELA-hanketta (Informatics for Health in Africa<\/bdo>), ja sain kunnian olla ensimm\u00e4inen v\u00e4ittelij\u00e4 It\u00e4-Suomen yliopiston yhdistetylt\u00e4 tietojenk\u00e4sittelytieteen laitokselta vuonna 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yliopiston j\u00e4lkeen siirryin bisnesmaailmaan kehitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n asiakas-potilastietoj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4\u00e4. Ty\u00f6h\u00f6ni kuului muun muassa asiakaskokemuksen ker\u00e4\u00e4minen ja analysointi, k\u00e4ytett\u00e4vyyden arviointi, loppuk\u00e4ytt\u00e4jien koulutus sek\u00e4 opetussovellusten ja -videoiden tekeminen. Kaiken kaikkiaan vietin yli 20 vuotta terveydenhuollon tietoj\u00e4rjestelmien parissa, joten siin\u00e4 ajassa ehti tarttua mukaan jonkin verran osaamista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 2025 palasin takaisin yliopistolle \u2013 ja takaisin sivistyksen pariin. Vastaanotto on ollut l\u00e4mmin ja ty\u00f6skentely kirjastolla on tuntunut heti omalta. Kirjat ja tiede ovat aina olleet keskeinen osa minua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vapaa-ajalla hoidan huonekasveja, puuhailen puutarhassa, kokkaan, teen k\u00e4sit\u00f6it\u00e4, piperr\u00e4n nukkekotia, katselen elokuvia ja ennen kaikkea luen. Olen t\u00e4ysiverinen introvertti, joka viihtyy parhaiten rauhallisten asioiden \u00e4\u00e4rell\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Odotan innolla, mit\u00e4 kaikkea tulevaisuus kirjastolla tuo tullessaan \u2013 ja toivon, ett\u00e4 voin omalta osaltani edist\u00e4\u00e4 avoimen tieteen ja tutkimuksen saavutettavuutta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hello! I\u2019m Tuija, an information systems specialist at the university library \u2013 a.k.a. IT granny. My work revolves around open science, the FAIR principles, research data management, and Primo. The path that brought me here has been anything but straightforward.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I began my career as a goldsmith (as Leonardo da Vinci), graduating from the Lahti Design Institute in 1991. I worked in the field for ten years, and perhaps my most notable piece was the mayoral chain for the City of Varkaus. Due to health reasons, I had to change careers \u2013 and so began my journey into the world of computing.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I first studied programming at Kuopio Technical Institute, then continued with computer science at the University of Kuopio. My doctoral research<\/a> was part of the INDEHELA project (Informatics for Health in Africa), and I had the honour of being the first PhD graduate from the newly merged Department of Computer Science at the University of Eastern Finland in 2011.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After my time in academia, I spent seven years in the business world developing a customer-patient information system. My work included collecting and analysing user experience data, usability evaluations, end-user training, and creating training applications and videos.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Altogether, I spent over 20 years working with healthcare information systems \u2013 and I picked up quite a bit of knowledge along the way.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In spring 2025, I returned to the university \u2013 to the world of education and culture. The welcome has been incredibly warm, and working at the library has felt like a perfect fit from the start.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Books and science have always been central to who I am, and the university library feels like the ideal place to bring together all my previous experience and passions.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my free time, I care for houseplants, do gardening, cook, do crafts, tinker with a dollhouse, watch films, and \u2013 above all \u2013 read. I\u2019m a fully-fledged introvert who finds joy in quiet, creative pursuits.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m looking forward to seeing what the future holds here at the library \u2013 and I hope I can do my part to support open science and make research more accessible to all.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
