Itse olen osallistunut 1980-luvun lopulla opetukseen, jossa k\u00e4ytiin l\u00e4pi painettuja bibliografioita ja tutustuttiin tieteellisiin lehtiin. Opettajana olen vet\u00e4nyt niin atk-passia kuin erilaisia tiedonhaun verkko- tai l\u00e4hikursseja 2000-luvun alusta alkaen. Sis\u00e4ll\u00f6t ja opetusmuodotkin ovat olleet vuosien varrella myllerryksess\u00e4, mutta tiedonhaun opetuksen t\u00e4rkeys on kirjastossa ollut tunnustettu l\u00e4pi vuosikymmenten. T\u00e4m\u00e4 perustavanlaatuinen tuki ja opetukseen resursoiminen on ollut keskeinen edellytys tiedonhaun opetuksen jatkuvaksi kehitt\u00e4miseksi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pikkuhiljaa tiedonhaun opetuksesta onkin rakentunut kokonaisuus, joka l\u00e4p\u00e4isee opiskelijan koko opintopolun: tavoitteena on tarjota oikea-aikaisesti taitoja ja v\u00e4lineit\u00e4, joita tarvitaan opiskelun, oppimisteht\u00e4vien ja opinn\u00e4ytteiden vaatiman tieteellisen tiedon, erityisesti l\u00e4hdekirjallisuuden, hankkimiseksi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>T\u00e4m\u00e4 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/fi\/kirjasto\/tiedonhaun-opintojaksot-ja-koulutus#paragraph-990221\">oppimispolku<\/a> on nyt n\u00e4ht\u00e4vill\u00e4 kirjaston verkkosivuilla. Tiedonhaun opintojaksot on It\u00e4-Suomen yliopiston kirjastossa linkitetty vahvasti opiskelijan omaan tekemiseen sek\u00e4 osittain oppiainekohtaisesti r\u00e4\u00e4t\u00e4l\u00f6idyn sis\u00e4ll\u00f6n ett\u00e4 oppimisteht\u00e4vien kautta. Opiskelija p\u00e4\u00e4see tekem\u00e4\u00e4n tiedonhaun harjoituksia johonkin omaan, todelliseen tiedontarpeeseen liittyen ja saa my\u00f6s henkil\u00f6kohtaista palautetta tekemisest\u00e4\u00e4n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiedonhaun kurssit opettavatkin ensisijaisesti laajempaa tiedonhakua, kun tarvitaan kattavaa kuvaa tiettyyn aiheeseen liittyv\u00e4st\u00e4 tieteellisest\u00e4 kirjallisuudesta: kirjoista ja artikkeleista. N\u00e4in j\u00e4re\u00e4\u00e4 tietopakettia ei tarvita eik\u00e4 siten ole tarkoituksenmukaista tarjotakaan kaikissa tilanteissa, esimerkiksi ihan opiskelujen alkuun riitt\u00e4\u00e4 vaikkapa tieto siit\u00e4, kuinka l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 kurssikirjan, verkosta tai painettuna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toisaalta monet esimerkiksi tiedonhaun tekniikkaan liittyv\u00e4t pienet mutta t\u00e4rke\u00e4t asiat unohtuvat herk\u00e4sti, jos ja kun laajaa, syv\u00e4llist\u00e4 tiedonhakua ei ole koko ajan tarpeen tehd\u00e4. Siksi oppimispolkua t\u00e4ydent\u00e4v\u00e4t erimuotoiset muut opetukset, joissa sek\u00e4 kerrataan jo aiemmin opittua ett\u00e4 tuodaan rinnalle uusia taitoja ja tietoja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Varsinaisen opetuksen rinnalla on aina kulkenut my\u00f6s ajatus erilaisista oppaista, joihin tukeutumalla voi kukin tiedontarvitsija milloin vain saada selville, kuinka k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 yliopistokirjastoa ja hankkia tietoa erilaisiin tarpeisiin. Oppaita onkin kertynyt melkoinen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4, eik\u00e4 varmaksi voi luvata, etteik\u00f6 lis\u00e4\u00e4kin viel\u00e4 tulisi. Ongelma on, kuten aina, l\u00f6yt\u00e4v\u00e4tk\u00f6 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4t n\u00e4m\u00e4 tiedot juuri silloin kun tarve on. Kirjaston oppaisiin on linkki kirjaston etusivuilla ja googlaamallakin niit\u00e4 voi l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4. My\u00f6s kirjastobotti Uffe linkittyy kirjaston verkkosivujen oppaisiin ja ohjeisiin. Tiedonhaun ohjaus, henkil\u00f6kohtainen tai ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 tapahtuva, t\u00e4ydent\u00e4\u00e4 varsinaista opetusta ja itseopiskelua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiedon digitalisoituminen 90-luvulta alkaen oli valtavan suuri murros tiedonhankinnan maailmassa. Tuleeko teko\u00e4lyn uusimmasta kehitysharppauksesta yht\u00e4 iso muutos? In the late 1980s, as a student, I participated in a teaching that went through printed bibliographies and became familiar with scientific journals. As a teacher, I have been instructing in various online or classroom courses in information retrieval since year 2001. Contents and forms of teaching have changed over the years, but the importance of teaching information retrieval has been recognized in the library throughout the decades. This fundamental support and resourcing for teaching has been a key prerequisite for the continuous development of information retrieval teaching.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Gradually, the teaching of information retrieval has become an entity that spans over a student&#8217;s entire study path: the goal is to provide in a timely manner the skills and tools needed to acquire the scientific information, especially literature sources, required for studying, learning assignments and theses.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/en\/library\/courses-and-training-provided-by-uef-library#paragraph-990221\">learning path<\/a> is now available on the library&#8217;s website. The information retrieval courses at the UEF Library are strongly linked to students\u2019 own work through partially subject-specific tailored content and learning assignments. Students will be able to do information retrieval exercises related to their own topics of interest and will also receive personal feedback on their work.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Information retrieval courses primarily teach extensive information retrieval skills when a comprehensive picture of the scientific literature related to a particular topic is needed. Such an exhaustive information package is not needed and it is not appropriate to offer in all situations, for example in the beginning of studies, when just an ability to find a course book, online or in print, is quite enough.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Alongside the actual teaching, there is the idea of online guides, on which each customer can at any time find out how to use the university library and search information for different needs. Indeed, quite a number of guides have been published, and even more might appear. The problem is, as always, whether users can find this information exactly when the need arises. There is a link to the library&#8217;s guides on the library&#8217;s front page and even by googling they can be found. The library bot Uffe also relies on guides and instructions from the library&#8217;s website. Information retrieval guidance, personal or in a group, supplements the actual teaching and self-studying.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The digitalisation of information since the 1990s was a huge transformation in the world of information supply. Will the latest development leap in AI become just as big a change?
