UEF-Primo on It\u00e4-Suomen yliopiston kirjaston hakupalvelu, joka yhdist\u00e4\u00e4 painetun ja s\u00e4hk\u00f6isen aineiston k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4ksi yhdell\u00e4 haulla. Kirjoja, lehti\u00e4, artikkeleita ja tietokantoja voidaan hakea yht\u00e4 aikaa tai erikseen. Monipuoliset fasetit eli rajaukset sek\u00e4 tarkennetun haun kent\u00e4t mahdollistavat laajat ja monipuoliset hakumahdollisuudet. Silti UEF-Primon perushakua k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n eniten (82 % kaikista hauista), koska se tarjoaa helpon ja nopean tavan l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 tietoa monista eri l\u00e4hteist\u00e4 yhdell\u00e4 haulla. Vuosien 2020\u20132023 kuluessa on perushakua k\u00e4ytetty l\u00e4hes seitsem\u00e4n miljoonaa kertaa, kun taas tarkennettua hakua on k\u00e4ytetty vain noin 750 000 kertaa \u2013 ero on siis huomattava. Suosituimpien hakujen k\u00e4rjess\u00e4 ovat vuodesta toiseen kirjaston tarjoamat tietokannat. Vuosien 2020\u20132023 ajalla pit\u00e4\u00e4 ykk\u00f6ssijaa Edilex (108 229 hakua) ja toisena on Terveysportti (100 063). Seuraavat tulevat selv\u00e4sti n\u00e4iden per\u00e4ss\u00e4: PubMed (48 544), Scopus (19 909) ja Oppiportti (11 355). K\u00e4rkiviisikon j\u00e4lkeen tulevat ensimm\u00e4iset yksitt\u00e4isiin nimekkeisiin kohdistuvat haut: ihmisen psykologinen kehitys (11 216), valtios\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6oikeus (9 612) ja hallintomenettelyn perusteet (8 726).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEF-Primo auttaa my\u00f6s viitteidenhallinnassa. T\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 tarjolla on monta erilaista mahdollisuutta viitetiedon jatkok\u00e4sittelyyn. Viitteen voi vied\u00e4 esimerkiksi suoraan Mendeleyhin tai Exceliin, ottaa talteen RIS-muodossa (Research Information System) <\/bdo>tai l\u00e4hett\u00e4\u00e4 omaan s\u00e4hk\u00f6postiin. Lis\u00e4ksi viitetiedon voi ladata itselleen jollakin yhdeks\u00e4st\u00e4 viittaustyylist\u00e4, kuten APA (American Psychological Association<\/bdo>), Chicago, Harvard tai MLA (Modern Language Association<\/bdo>). Viittaustyyleist\u00e4 ylivoimaisesti suosituin on APA:n 7. painos (60 %:n osuudella kaikista k\u00e4ytetyist\u00e4 viittaustyyleist\u00e4) ja hyv\u00e4n\u00e4 kakkosena on APA:n 6. painos (17 %). Kolmantena tulee Harvard (8 %), nelj\u00e4nten\u00e4 Chicago\/Turabianin 16. painos (8 %) ja viidenten\u00e4 MLA:n 8. painos (6 %). Osassa artikkeleita UEF-Primo n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 linkkein\u00e4 artikkelin l\u00e4hdeviitteet tai l\u00e4hteit\u00e4, joissa artikkelia on k\u00e4ytetty viitteen\u00e4. UEF-Primo toimii k\u00e4tev\u00e4sti my\u00f6s omana viitekirjastona, mik\u00e4li asiakas on kirjautunut sis\u00e4\u00e4n. Lis\u00e4ksi kiinnostavasta materiaalista saa tarvittaessa itselleen pysyv\u00e4n linkin, jonka avulla kyseisen materiaalin l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 hyvin helposti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEF-Primo on kovassa k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4: vuodesta 2020 alkaen on UEF-Primossa ollut vuosittain noin 2,5 miljoonaa istuntoa, joista noin 15 %:ssa asiakas on ollut sis\u00e4\u00e4n kirjautuneena. UEF-Primon k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4t ovat p\u00e4\u00e4osin Suomesta (95 %), mutta k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 on suhteellisen paljon my\u00f6s Yhdysvalloista ja EU-maista (erityisesti Saksasta, Ruotsista ja Espanjasta) sek\u00e4 Aasian maista Kiinasta. Kaikkiaan UEF-Primossa on vuosina 2020\u20132023 ollut k\u00e4yntikertoja yhteens\u00e4 157 maasta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEF-Primoa k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa tietokoneilla: istunnoista noin 94 % tapahtuu tietokoneella ja ainoastaan vajaat 6 % mobiililaitteella. Erilaisia k\u00e4ytt\u00f6j\u00e4rjestelmi\u00e4 on puolen tusinaa, joista nelj\u00e4\u00e4 k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n tietokoneilla. N\u00e4ist\u00e4 Windows on yleisin (72 % sessioista tietokoneella), toisena on Mac (23 %), kolmantena Linux (4 %) ja nelj\u00e4nten\u00e4 Chrome OS (< 0,5 %) \u2013 lis\u00e4ksi on jonkin verran tunnistamattomia k\u00e4ytt\u00f6j\u00e4rjestelmi\u00e4, joiden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6osuus on h\u00e4vi\u00e4v\u00e4n pieni. Yleisin selainohjelma on Chrome (55 % istunnoista) kaikilla muilla k\u00e4ytt\u00f6j\u00e4rjestelmill\u00e4 paitsi Mac, jossa Safari (61 % istunnoista) on selke\u00e4 ykk\u00f6nen. Muita usein k\u00e4ytettyj\u00e4 selaimia ovat Firefox, Edge ja Opera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEF-Primo kehittyy tulevaisuudessa kohti \u00e4lykk\u00e4\u00e4mpi\u00e4 toimintoja. On mielenkiintoista n\u00e4hd\u00e4, miten UEF-Primo hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 teko\u00e4ly\u00e4 esimerkiksi personoidussa tiedonhaussa ja k\u00e4ytt\u00f6kokemuksen parantamisessa. Hakupalvelu tulee uudistumaan muutaman vuoden sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 \u2013 suunnitelmissa on mukana nykyist\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n linkitetty\u00e4 data, teko\u00e4lyteknologiaa sek\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4analytiikkaa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEF Primo is a search service of the University of Eastern Finland Library that allows you to search for both printed and electronic materials in a single search. Books, journals, articles, and databases can be searched simultaneously or separately. Versatile facets, i.e., refining and advanced search fields, enable wide and diverse search possibilities. However, the basic search of UEF Primo is used the most (82% of all searches) because it provides an easy and quick way to find information from many sources in a single search. During 2020\u20132023, the basic search has been used almost seven million times, while the advanced search has only been used about 750,000 times\u2014the difference is considerable. The third place is held by the database search, which has been used almost 300,000 times over the years. Basic information retrieval skills can be learned, for example, with the help of the library\u2019s UEF Primo guides. If you are interested in the most important databases in a particular field, you can learn more about them through the library’s training on information skills<\/a>.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year after year, the databases provided by the library remain at the top of the most popular searches. Between 2020 and 2023, Edilex holds the first place (108,229 searches) and Terveysportti (100,063) comes in second. The following databases are well behind: PubMed (48,544), Scopus (19,909) and Oppiportti (11,355). After the top five come the first searches for individual titles: ihmisen psykologinen kehitys [human psychological development] (11,216), valtios\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6oikeus [constitutional law] (9,612), and hallintomenettelyn perusteet [the basics of administrative procedure] (8,726).<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reference management is well-supported in UEF Primo. There are currently many possibilities for the further processing of references. For example, you can export the reference directly to Mendeley or Excel, retrieve it in RIS (Research Information System) format, or send it to your own email. In addition, the reference can be downloaded in one of nine citation styles, such as APA (American Psychological Association), Chicago, Harvard, or MLA (Modern Language Association). The 7th edition of the APA (60% of all citation styles used) is by far the most popular of the citation styles and the 6th edition of the APA (17%) is a good runner-up. In third place is Harvard (8%), in fourth place is the 16th edition of Chicago\/Turabian (8%), and in fifth place is the 8th edition of the MLA (6%). For some articles, UEF Primo displays the article’s source references as links, and possibly even sources that have used the article as a reference. If the customer is signed in, UEF Primo also works conveniently as its own reference library. In addition, you can get a permanent link to any material you are interested in, which makes it very easy for you to find the material in question.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our search service is in heavy use: since 2020, UEF Primo has had approximately 2.5 million sessions annually. About 15% of the above sessions have been those in which the client has been signed in. UEF Primo is mainly used from Finland (95%), but there is also a relatively large amount of use from the United States and EU countries (especially Germany, Sweden, and Spain) as well as from China as an Asian country. In 2020\u20132023, UEF Primo has had visits from a total of 157 countries.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UEF Primo is mainly used on computers: about 94% of sessions take place on a computer and just under 6% on a mobile device. There are half a dozen different operating systems, four of which are used on computers. Windows is the most common (72% of sessions on a computer), second is Mac (23%), third is Linux (4%), and fourth is Chrome OS (< 0.5%). In addition, there are some unidentified operating systems with a negligible share of usage. The most common browser is Chrome (55% of sessions) on all operating systems except Mac, on which Safari (61% of sessions) is clearly number one. Other frequently used browsers are Firefox, Edge, and Opera.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the future, UEF Primo will evolve towards smarter functionalities. It will be interesting to see how UEF Primo makes use of artificial intelligence in, for example, personalized information retrieval and user experience improvement. The search service will be renewed within a few years\u2014more linked data, artificial intelligence technology and user analytics are included in the plans.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
