Kahden kuukauden mittainen ty\u00f6harjoitteluni Joensuun kampuskirjastossa alkaa l\u00e4henty\u00e4 loppuaan, joten on hyv\u00e4 hetki koota jonkinlainen tiivistelm\u00e4 siit\u00e4 mit\u00e4 kaikkea olen t\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 viett\u00e4m\u00e4n\u00e4ni aikana tehnyt, kokenut ja oppinut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taustatietona voisin kertoa ett\u00e4 opiskelen p\u00e4\u00e4aineena englantia t\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 It\u00e4-Suomen yliopistossa, jonka lis\u00e4ksi olen tehnyt informaatiotutkimuksen opintoja sivuaineena. Harjoittelu kirjastossa tuntui siis koulutustaustaani sopivalta, ja koska kirjastoalan ty\u00f6t kiinnostavat minua tulevaisuudessakin olin iloinen p\u00e4\u00e4stess\u00e4ni harjoitteluun juuri t\u00e4nne. On ollut mielenkiintoista n\u00e4hd\u00e4 mit\u00e4 kaikkea yliopistokirjastossa tehd\u00e4\u00e4n ja mink\u00e4laisia ty\u00f6nkuvia ja ty\u00f6teht\u00e4vi\u00e4 t\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelevill\u00e4 on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rakenteeltaan harjoittelu on ollut monipuolinen, sill\u00e4 sen aikana olen tutustunut useaan eri palveluun kirjaston sis\u00e4ll\u00e4, kuten tietoaineistopalveluun, asiakaspalveluun, opetus- ja tietopalveluun, verkko- ja julkaisupalveluun sek\u00e4 hallintoon. T\u00e4m\u00e4n lis\u00e4ksi olen saanut tehd\u00e4kseni monenlaisia ty\u00f6teht\u00e4vi\u00e4, kuten hyllytt\u00e4mist\u00e4, aineiston poistoja, blogik\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6ksi\u00e4 sek\u00e4 \u00e4\u00e4nivy\u00f6hykekyselyn suunnittelua ja toteuttamista. Harjoitteluun kuuluivat lis\u00e4ksi vierailut vapaakappalevarastoon sek\u00e4 Kuopion kampuskirjastoon ja KYSin tieteelliseen kirjastoon. T\u00e4ll\u00e4 viikolla teimme my\u00f6s Joensuussa ensi viikolla j\u00e4rjestett\u00e4viin Optiikan ja fotoniikan p\u00e4iviin<\/a> liittyen aineistonoston<\/a> Primoon. Kannattaa k\u00e4yd\u00e4 tsekkaamassa!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kokonaisuudessaan koko harjoittelun ajan olen saanut vastaanottaa todella paljon uutta tietoa. Kirjaston eri palveluihin perehtymisen lis\u00e4ksi olen oppinut lis\u00e4\u00e4 esimerkiksi avoimesta tieteest\u00e4 sek\u00e4 teko\u00e4lyn hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4misest\u00e4 kirjaston arjessa. Kirjaston sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 teht\u00e4v\u00e4n ty\u00f6n monipuolisuus on yll\u00e4tt\u00e4nyt ja en aiemmin tiennytk\u00e4\u00e4n miten paljon kaikenlaista kirjaston niin sanotusti kulisseissa tapahtuu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aika on kulunut nopeasti ja olen todella nauttinut harjoittelustani t\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. Kirjastolaisilla on todella l\u00e4mminhenkinen ty\u00f6ilmapiiri ja koin itseni tervetulleeksi t\u00e4nne koko harjoittelun ajan alusta loppuun. Suuri kiitos kaikille minua perehdytt\u00e4neille ja muutenkin koko kirjaston henkil\u00f6kunnalle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My two-month internship at Joensuu campus library is nearing its end, so it is a perfect time to summarize and share what I have done, learned and experienced during the time I have spent here.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To give a brief background, I major in English at UEF, in addition to which I have done minor studies on information science. Therefore, an internship at the library fitted my academic background perfectly, and since I am considering to further my career within the library field in the future as well, I was extremely glad to be able to do my internship here. I have found it quite fascinating to experience the life of an academic library and to see firsthand what kind of both daily and long-term tasks the library employees have.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Structurally the internship has been diverse, and I have been able to get acquainted with various services within the library, such as collections, customer service, training and information services, research support and publishing, as well as library administration. In addition to this I have been given some work to do on my own, such as shelfing, material removals, blog text translations, and formatting and conducting the sound zones questionnaire. During the internship we also visited the legal deposit unit in Joensuu, as well as Kuopio campus library and KUH Medical Library. Just this week we also compiled and launched an exhibition<\/a> on UEF Primo, in regards to the Optics and Photonics days<\/a> that will be held at UEF next week. Overall, the internship has been packed with new information for me to internalize. In addition to the introductions to different services within the library, I have learnt more about open science and the application of AI to the library\u2019s daily services, for instance. The diversity of the work that is done within the library has suprised me – prior the internship I was not aware of the myriad of things that happen behind the scenes.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My time here has gone by incredibly fast, and these two months have been an absolute pleasure. The working environment here at the library is remarkably warm and heartfelt, and I felt welcome to be here throughout the whole internship. I want to offer big thanks to everybody who has shown me around, and to the whole library staff for everything you do!<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
