Informaatiotutkimuksen p\u00e4iv\u00e4t<\/strong>, jotka tunnetaan my\u00f6s nimell\u00e4 i-p\u00e4iv\u00e4t, on joka toinen vuosi j\u00e4rjestett\u00e4v\u00e4 tapahtuma, jossa k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\u00e4n informaatioalan ilmi\u00f6it\u00e4 eri n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmista. Vuoden 2022 Informaatiotutkimuksen p\u00e4iv\u00e4t olivat j\u00e4rjestykselt\u00e4\u00e4n seitsem\u00e4nnet ja j\u00e4rjestettiin 3.\u20134.11. Tampereen yliopistolla. T\u00e4m\u00e4 oli toinen kerta, kun osallistuminen sopi aikatauluihini, ja junamatka Tampereelle alkoi. Ennakkoon saatu ohjelma antoi osviittaa p\u00e4ivien monipuolisesta ja mielenkiintoisesta sis\u00e4ll\u00f6st\u00e4, ja odottelinkin innolla tapahtumaa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Torstai<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

P\u00e4ivien avajaissanat lausui Informaatiotutkimuksen yhdistys \u2013 ITY ry:n puheenjohtaja Ari Haasio esitellen p\u00e4ivien ohjelmaa ja toivottaen kuulijat tervetulleeksi. Avajaissanojen j\u00e4lkeen oli vuorossa professori Tuomas Harviaisen mielenkiintoinen keynote-esitys aiheesta ”Tiedon jakamisen tutkimus osana tietok\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6jen tutkimusta”. Torstain sessioiden aiheita olivat Keho ja ruumiillisuus<\/strong> informaatiotutkimuksessa<\/strong>\u202fja Informaatiovuorovaikutus ja vuorovaikutteinen tiedonhaku<\/strong>, Terveystieto ja -viestint\u00e4<\/strong> sek\u00e4 Nousevat i-t\u00e4hdet: Informaatiotutkimuksen opinn\u00e4ytteet ja v\u00e4it\u00f6stutkimussuunnitelmat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keho ja ruumiillisuus informaatiotutkimuksessa & Informaatiovuorovaikutus ja vuorovaikutteinen tiedonhaku oli alun perin kaksi erillist\u00e4 sessiota, jotka oli ohjelmamuutosten my\u00f6t\u00e4 yhdistetty. Ensimm\u00e4isess\u00e4 esityksess\u00e4 k\u00e4siteltiin tutkimusta, jonka aiheena oli kehollisuuden merkitys suomalaisjuoksijoiden teknologian ei-k\u00e4yt\u00f6lle. T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen kuultiin avoimen kuvakokoelman kuvamateriaalin hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4misest\u00e4 tutkimusdatana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lounaan j\u00e4lkeisen session aiheena oli terveystieto ja -viestint\u00e4. Esityksiss\u00e4 nostettiin esille erilaisten ryhmien, kuten turvapaikanhakijoiden, tyypin 1 diabetesta sairastavien sek\u00e4 ik\u00e4\u00e4ntyneiden terveystietoon liittyvi\u00e4 tiedontarpeita ja k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6j\u00e4. Session viimeisess\u00e4 esityksess\u00e4 k\u00e4siteltiin Suomi24-keskustelufoorumin masennusaiheisiin keskusteluihin toteutettua tunneanalyysi\u00e4, jolla pyrittiin tunnistamaan viestien sis\u00e4ll\u00f6n tunnetilojen ajoittaisia vaihteluita ja muutoksia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

P\u00e4iv\u00e4n p\u00e4\u00e4tti Nousevat i-t\u00e4hdet: Informaatiotutkimuksen opinn\u00e4ytteet ja v\u00e4it\u00f6stutkimussuunnitelmat -posterisessio, jossa opinn\u00e4ytet\u00f6iden ja v\u00e4it\u00f6skirjojen tekij\u00e4t saivat aluksi pit\u00e4\u00e4 minuutin mittaisen esityksen, jonka avulla he her\u00e4tteliv\u00e4t kuulijoiden kiinnostuksen. Kahvittelun ohella kuulijat p\u00e4\u00e4siv\u00e4t sitten tutustumaan postereihin ja jututtamaan tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 tarkemmin. Opinn\u00e4ytteit\u00e4 ja v\u00e4it\u00f6skirjoja olikin syntynyt ja syntym\u00e4ss\u00e4 useista eri aiheista, ja niiden tekemiseen oli hy\u00f6dynnetty erilaisia menetelmi\u00e4, kuten haastatteluja, kuvailevaa kirjallisuuskatsausta ja semanttista hakua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perjantai<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Perjantain ohjelma oli jaettu kahteen eri tilaan ja haasteena olikin valita, kumpaako milloinkin kuuntelisi, sill\u00e4 esitykset vaikuttivat kaikissa sessioissa eritt\u00e4in mielenkiintoisilta. P\u00e4\u00e4dyin aamup\u00e4iv\u00e4ll\u00e4 kuuntelemaan esityksi\u00e4 avoimen tieteen teemaan liittyen ja iltap\u00e4iv\u00e4ll\u00e4 aiheesta Informaatio v\u00e4hemmist\u00f6jen ja erityisryhmien kontekstissa. Toisessa tilassa teemoina olivat Lukutaidon monet muodot ja Knowledge Management. Onneksi p\u00e4ivien esitysten abstraktit on julkaistu Informaatiotutkimus-lehden numerossa 2-3\/2022<\/a>, joten niihin p\u00e4\u00e4see tutustumaan my\u00f6s j\u00e4lkik\u00e4teen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoin tiede<\/strong> -sessio koostui kuudesta esityksest\u00e4. Ensimm\u00e4isess\u00e4 esityksess\u00e4 verrattiin Altmetric.com- ja Overton-viittausten kattavuutta ja p\u00e4\u00e4llekk\u00e4isyytt\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi kuultiin erilaisia n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmia avoimen tieteen kannalta muun muassa tutkimustietoj\u00e4rjestelmist\u00e4, korkeakouluyhteis\u00f6jen avoimuudesta, kaupunkisuunnittelun ty\u00f6prosesseista ja FAIR-periaatteista. Session viimeisess\u00e4 esityksess\u00e4 esiteltiin, millaista avoimuutta tieteellisten lehtien lukijat toivovat kansainv\u00e4lisilt\u00e4 ja kotimaisilta lehdilt\u00e4. Kyselyyn vastanneet toivoivat erityisesti, ett\u00e4 julkisilla varoilla tehdyn tutkimuksen tulosten tulisi olla maksutta kaikkien saatavilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perjantain viimeinen sessio Informaatio v\u00e4hemmist\u00f6jen ja erityisryhmien kontekstissa<\/strong> alkoi esityksell\u00e4, jossa k\u00e4siteltiin turvapaikanhakijataustaisten terveystiedontarpeita ja terveyspalveluiden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 Norjassa. Toisessa esityksess\u00e4 kuultiin Saamelaiskielten tuki digitaalisissa palveluissa -hankkeesta, jonka tavoitteena rakentaa pohjoissaamen kielen tuki kolmeen Kansalliskirjaston palveluun: Finto-sanasto- ja ontologiapalveluun, Kotoistuspalveluun sek\u00e4 Finna-hakupalveluun. Viimeisimm\u00e4ss\u00e4 esityksess\u00e4 paneuduttiin viel\u00e4 tutkimukseen, joka k\u00e4sitteli huumeiden myyntiin liittyv\u00e4n tiedon jakamista pime\u00e4ss\u00e4 verkossa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Informaatiotutkimuksen p\u00e4ivien ohjelmaa oli jouduttu hieman muokkaamaan alkuper\u00e4isest\u00e4 ja teemoja yhdistelem\u00e4\u00e4n, sill\u00e4 joitakin esityksi\u00e4 oli peruuntunut, mutta p\u00e4ivien rakenne toimi siit\u00e4 huolimatta hyvin ja ohjelma oli eritt\u00e4in kattava. Pelk\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4n esitysten aihepiireist\u00e4 voi todeta informaatiotutkimuksen olevan tieteenalana harvinaisen monipuolinen ja ajankohtainen. Esitykset olivat hyvin toteutettuja ja her\u00e4ttiv\u00e4t paljon uutta intoa alan tuoreisiin kysymyksiin. Oli eritt\u00e4in mukava n\u00e4hd\u00e4 sek\u00e4 tuttuja ett\u00e4 uusia alan kasvoja pitk\u00e4n koronatauon j\u00e4lkeen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Information Studies Days, also known as i-days, is a biennial event focusing on information studies phenomena from various points of view. The 2022 event was the seventh of its kind and it was held from the 3rd of November to the 11th of November in Tampere University. For me, this was the second time the event fit my calendar, and the train trip to Tampere started. The programme I had reviewed in advance, had showed the diverse and interesting composition of the event, and I was looking forward towards the event.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The opening words were given by the chairman of Association for Information Studies Ari Haasio, who presented the programme for the day and welcomed all listeners. After the opening speech professor, Tuomas Harviainen gave a captivating keynote speech on ”Researching Information sharing as a part of Information Practices Research”. Thursday\u2019s themes were The Body and Embodiment in Information Studies<\/strong>, Information Interaction and Interactive Information Retrieval<\/strong>, Health Information and Communication<\/strong> and Rising I-stars: Information Studies Theses and Doctoral Dissertations plans<\/strong>.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The themes Body and Embodiment in Information Studies & Information Interaction and Interactive Information Retrieval were originally two separate sessions, but were combined due to changes in the programme. The first presentation examined research that focused on the effect of embodiment to the Finnish runners\u2019 disuse of technology. Afterwards listeners heard about utilisation of materials from open image collections as research data.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After lunch, the theme was Health Information and Communication. The first presentation highlighted the information needs and practices related to health information of different groups, such as refugees, the elderly as well as people who have type 1 diabetes. The last presentation was about a sentiment analysis on Suomi24 discussion forum conversations related to depression, with the aim of recognising the sentimental changes present in the messages.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day came to an end with Rising I-stars: Information Studies Theses and Doctoral Dissertations plans -poster session, where the thesis and doctoral dissertation researchers got to make a one-minute presentation to pique the interest of those present. While having a cup of coffee the listeners could circle about and familiarise themselves with the posters and chat with their authors. The theses and dissertations turned out to be on a multitude of topics, and various methods had been used in their development, including interviews, descriptive literary reviews, and semantic search.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, the programme had been divided into two separate spaces and it was hard to choose which ones to listen to, as every session seemed to have interesting presentations. I ended up listening to presentations on open science in the morning and on Information behaviour and information practices in the context of minorities and special groups in the afternoon. The other themes were Many Forms of Literacy and Knowledge Management. Fortunately, the abstracts of the presentations have been published in issue 2-3\/2022 of the journal Informaatiotutkimus<\/a>, so that one look more closely into <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>them later.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Open Science<\/strong> session consisted of six presentations. First session cross-examined the coverage and overlap of Altmetric.com and Overton references. In addition, the multiple points of view on open science were brought forward, including views on research information systems, the openness of higher education communities, city planning work process, and the FAIR principles of the National Library, among others. The last presentation of the session presented what kinds of openness the readers of scientific publications had for international and national publications. Participants of the survey especially hoped that publicly funded research would be open to everyone without a fee.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last session of Friday, Information behaviour and information practices in the context of minorities and special groups<\/strong>, began with a presentation on the information practices and the usage of health services of people with a refugee background in Norway. The second presentation represented Digital Service Support for S\u00e1mi People initiative, which aims for the development of support in Northern S\u00e1mi for the three services of the National Library: Finto thesaurus and ontology service, Kotoistus service, and Finna search service. The last presentation delved into research, that handled information sharing concerning selling drugs on the dark web.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme of Information Studies Days had to be altered from the original and some themes were combined as some presentations had been cancelled.  Nevertheless, the overall structure of the days functioned well, and the programme was extremely comprehensive. The themes of the presentations lead to the conclusion that information studies can be considered a remarkably diverse and topical field of study. The presentations were well executed and kindled a lot of fresh enthusiasm into the recent questions in the field. It was wonderful to see both familiar and new faces in the field after a long break due to Covid-19.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
