Yksi opetuksen kehitt\u00e4misrahahankkeista oli Kirjaston koulutuspalveluiden kehitt\u00e4minen -hanke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kirjaston koulutuspalveluiden kehitt\u00e4mishankkeen laajana tavoitteena oli kirjaston koulutuspalvelujen \u2013 tiedonhaun opintojaksot, lyhytkoulutukset, ohjaukset, oppimateriaalit \u2013 palvelumuotoileminen tuotekokonaisuudeksi. Kirjaston koulutuspalvelujen palvelumuotoilu aloitettiin Jatkuvan oppimisen keskuksen fasilitoimalla palvelumuotoiluprojektilla, jossa kirjaston kouluttajat suunnittelivat yhdess\u00e4 kirjaston koulutuspalveluita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kehitt\u00e4mishankkeen ydin oli informaatiotaitojen avoimen oppimateriaalin tuottaminen. Oppiainekohtaisten tiedonhaun kurssimateriaalien pohjalta rakennettiin informaatiotaitojen avoin verkko-oppimateriaali suomeksi ja englanniksi. Oppimateriaali on k\u00e4ytett\u00e4viss\u00e4 itseopiskelumateriaalina, opintojaksojen oppimateriaalina ja yksil\u00f6ohjausten tukimateriaalina. Rakenne mahdollistaa syventyv\u00e4n osaamisen jatkumon opiskelu- ja ty\u00f6uran eri vaiheisiin aloittavista opiskelijoista tutkijoihin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kehitt\u00e4mishankkeen toimijat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kirjaston koulutuspalvelujen kehitt\u00e4mishanke toteutettiin kirjaston kouluttajien yhteisen\u00e4 kehitt\u00e4misty\u00f6n\u00e4. Parinkymmenen hengen kouluttajaryhm\u00e4ll\u00e4 pidettiin parin viikon v\u00e4lein hankekokouksia, joissa muun muassa pohdittiin tieteenalakohtaisten materiaalien roolia sek\u00e4 hankkeessa koottavan oppimateriaalin luonnetta ja sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00e4. Pienemmiss\u00e4 ty\u00f6ryhmiss\u00e4 ty\u00f6stettiin tarkemmin oppimateriaalin teemasis\u00e4lt\u00f6j\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ty\u00f6ryhmien sis\u00e4ll\u00f6ntuotannon kokoamisesta vastasivat oman toimen ohella tietoasiantuntijat Jussi Hyv\u00e4rinen ja Marika Mahlavuori. Oppimateriaalin k\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misest\u00e4 vastasi projektity\u00f6ntekij\u00e4 Niko Niskanen ja teknisest\u00e4 toteutuksesta projektity\u00f6ntekij\u00e4 Anni Tarkiainen .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oppimateriaalin sis\u00e4ll\u00f6ntuotanto<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Hankety\u00f6 k\u00e4ynnistyi kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 suurten linjojen hahmottelulla sek\u00e4 meill\u00e4 ja muissa korkeakouluissa tuotettujen tiedonhaun materiaalien kartoittamisella. Suunnitteluvaiheessa pohdimme, kenelle oppimateriaalia laaditaan. Kaikille avoimessa materiaalissa tulee huomioida erilaisten tiedonhakijoiden erilaiset sek\u00e4 suunnitelmallisen ett\u00e4 satunnaisen tiedonhaun tarpeet. T\u00e4rke\u00e4ksi n\u00e4htiin tiedonhaun termien avaaminen yleistajuisesti opiskelijoille, tutkijoille ja kaikille kirjaston asiakkaille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Olemassa olevissa oppimateriaaleissa p\u00e4\u00e4paino oli omaa opinn\u00e4ytety\u00f6t\u00e4 kirjoitettaessa teht\u00e4v\u00e4ss\u00e4 tiedonhaussa. Sit\u00e4 pidimme edelleen t\u00e4rke\u00e4n\u00e4, mutta my\u00f6s sit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 oppimateriaali on opiskelijan k\u00e4ytett\u00e4viss\u00e4 opintojen alusta alkaen \u2013 my\u00f6s silloin, kun tiedonhakija ei ole opiskelija, vaan kuka tahansa tutkittua tietoa ammatillisesta tai henkil\u00f6kohtaisesta kiinnostuksesta etsiv\u00e4 kirjaston k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4. Saman sivuston tuli siis olla k\u00e4ytett\u00e4viss\u00e4 sek\u00e4 oppaana ett\u00e4 oppimateriaalina, suomeksi ja englanniksi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sis\u00e4ll\u00f6ntuotannon palauteprosessi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 alettiin koota ns. raakatekstitiedostoa, johon koottiin ja muokattiin jo olemassa olevaa ja luotiin uutta tiedonhakua k\u00e4sittelev\u00e4\u00e4 sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00e4. Kirjaston kouluttajien palautteen perusteella raakateksti\u00e4 hiottiin ja t\u00e4ydennettiin mm. tieteenalakohtaisin esimerkein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palautevaiheessa tajusimme konkreettisesti eri tieteenaloja tuntevien, kokeneiden tietoasiantuntijoiden t\u00e4rkeyden. Heilt\u00e4 l\u00f6ytyi tietoa niin l\u00e4\u00e4ketieteen kuin historian julkaisuk\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ist\u00e4, tietokannoista, asiasanastoista ja tiedonhaun kompastuskivist\u00e4. Saimme k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6mme eri tieteenalojen hakuesimerkkej\u00e4 ja knoppeja havainnollistamaan ja tarkentamaan yleisell\u00e4 tasolla liikkuvaa opasta. Opimme, ett\u00e4 mik\u00e4 p\u00e4tee yhdell\u00e4 tieteenalalla, ei v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 koske toista. T\u00e4st\u00e4 suurkiitos kollegoillemme!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oppimateriaalin k\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4minen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>K\u00e4ytt\u00f6mahdollisuuksien laajentamiseksi oppimateriaali haluttiin toteuttaa kaksikielisen\u00e4. Oppimateriaalin tiedonhaun sanastosta tehtiin my\u00f6s englanninkielinen versio, jota avuksi k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en oppimateriaali k\u00e4\u00e4nnettiin englanniksi. Projektity\u00f6ntekij\u00e4 Niko Niskanen teki my\u00f6s oppimateriaalin kielenhuollon, mik\u00e4 osaltaan auttoi yhten\u00e4ist\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n toteutettuja oppimateriaaleja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hankemuotoinen prosessity\u00f6skentely mahdollisti projektin eri osioiden limittymisen, mink\u00e4 ansiosta oppimateriaalista saatiin yhten\u00e4isempi. Aiempi tiedonhankinta auttoi my\u00f6hemp\u00e4\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6ntuotantoa, ja tiedon asettuminen kontekstiin helpotti tarkistamista ja karsi ylim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ist\u00e4 ja p\u00e4\u00e4llekk\u00e4ist\u00e4 ty\u00f6t\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oppimateriaalin rakentaminen WordPress-alustalle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kirjaston avoimet oppimateriaalit on aiemmin tuotettu p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti WordPress-alustalle ja n\u00e4in p\u00e4\u00e4tettiin tehd\u00e4 my\u00f6s t\u00e4m\u00e4n oppimateriaalin kohdalla. WordPress mahdollistaa laajasti erilaisten ty\u00f6kalujen ja upotusten k\u00e4ytt\u00e4misen, mik\u00e4 todettiin hyv\u00e4ksi oppimateriaalien laatimisessa. Muutamalla lis\u00e4osalla saatiin my\u00f6s toimivat kieliversioinnit sek\u00e4 mahdollisuus lis\u00e4t\u00e4 kuvaty\u00f6kaluna k\u00e4ytetyn ThingLinkin upotuskoodit sivuille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tekstisis\u00e4ll\u00f6n lis\u00e4\u00e4minen sivuille oli lopulta nopeaa. Aikaa kului kuitenkin ennakoitua enemm\u00e4n kielik\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6ksiin sek\u00e4 kuvien ty\u00f6st\u00e4miseen. ThingLink mahdollisti oppimateriaalin yhten\u00e4isen ulkoasun my\u00f6s kuvien osalta. Uusien kuvien ja esitysten tuottaminen ThingLinkin avulla oli k\u00e4tev\u00e4\u00e4 ja muodostunutta kuvapankkia on helppo yll\u00e4pit\u00e4\u00e4 my\u00f6s jatkossa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oppimateriaalin saavutettavuus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ThingLink-kuvien saavutettavuus oli yksi asia, jota pohdimme projektin edetess\u00e4. Palveluntarjoajan mukaan ThingLink t\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 WCAG 2.1 AA-tason saavutettavuudessa, kun k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n palvelussa valmiina olevaa saavutettavaa soitinta. Oppimateriaalissamme saavutettavan soittimen saa k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6ns\u00e4 Siirry t\u00e4st\u00e4 kuvan saavutettavaan versioon -linkist\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Halusimme verkko-oppimateriaalista paitsi teknisesti toimivan my\u00f6s kognitiivisesti saavutettavan. Totesimme ty\u00f6n edetess\u00e4, ett\u00e4 verkkosivustolle upotetuilla ThingLink-esityksill\u00e4 on omat rajoitteensa, eik\u00e4 tavoittelemamme saavutettavuus toteutuisi pelk\u00e4n soittimen varassa. N\u00e4m\u00e4 laajan kuvamateriaalin ja ThingLinkin k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n liittyv\u00e4t haasteet ratkaisimme t\u00e4ydent\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 kuvatekstien kerrontaa, tuottamalla sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00e4 esimerkkien ymp\u00e4rille ja muokkaamalla alkuper\u00e4isten kuvien ja infograafien sis\u00e4lt\u00f6j\u00e4 erilaiset k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4ryhm\u00e4t huomioiden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seuraavat askeleet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiedonhakijan opas -oppimateriaalin toteuttamiseen osallistui monta kirjastolaista. Tekstisis\u00e4ll\u00f6n kommenttikierrokset hankeryhm\u00e4n kesken, kirjaston kouluttajien palaute ja kommenttien ja palautteen pohjalta tehdyt sis\u00e4lt\u00f6muutokset vaikuttivat oppimateriaalin tekniseen toteutukseen, kuvamateriaaliin ja k\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6sty\u00f6h\u00f6n. Onneksi Tiedonhakijan oppaan osalta oli mahdollista siirt\u00e4\u00e4 osa kehitt\u00e4misideoista my\u00f6hemp\u00e4\u00e4n ajankohtaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kehitt\u00e4mishankkeessa tuotettu Tiedonhakijan opas -oppimateriaali ja aloitettu kirjaston koulutuspalvelujen palvelumuotoilu muodostavat pohjan kirjaston koulutuspalveluiden kehitt\u00e4miselle seuraavina vuosina. Tiedonhakijan oppaalla ja muulla kirjaston oppimateriaalikokonaisuudella sek\u00e4 kirjaston opetus- ja ohjauspalveluilla kirjasto tukee opiskelijoiden tutkitun tiedon hankintaa opintojen aloituksesta opinn\u00e4ytet\u00f6ihin tekemiseen. Kirjaston oppimateriaalikokonaisuus palvelee my\u00f6s opetus- ja tutkimushenkil\u00f6st\u00f6\u00e4 opetuksessa, opinn\u00e4ytet\u00f6iden ohjauksessa ja omassa tutkimusty\u00f6ss\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jatkamme Tiedonhakijan opas -oppimateriaalin yll\u00e4pitoa ja kehitt\u00e4mist\u00e4 osana normaalia kirjaston opetuksen kehitt\u00e4mist\u00e4. Jatkossa muun muassa lis\u00e4\u00e4mme oppaaseen tieteenalakohtaisuutta, liit\u00e4mme oppaan materiaaleja kirjaston Uffe-chattibottiin ja pohdimme oppaan sis\u00e4lt\u00f6j\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jilt\u00e4 saadun palautteen avulla. Yhteisen oppimateriaalin pohjalta kehit\u00e4mme yhteisi\u00e4 oppimisteht\u00e4vi\u00e4, verkkokurssitoteutuksia ja automatisoituja harjoitteita ja pelej\u00e4, joilla pystyy testaamaan taitojaan itse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oppimateriaali Uffe-chattibottiin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiedontarvitsijan ja Tiedonhakijan oppaan kohtaamista edist\u00e4\u00e4 se, ett\u00e4 kirjaston Uffe-chattibotti ohjaa jatkossa tiedonhakijan my\u00f6s Tiedonhakijan oppaan sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00f6n. One project where teaching development funds were used was the UEF library&#8217;s educational services development project.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Broadly speaking, the goal of the library\u2019s educational services development project was to fashion the library&#8217;s educational services \u2013 courses on information retrieval, short training courses, guidance, learning materials \u2013 into a set of products. The service design process of the library&#8217;s education services began with a service design project facilitated by the Centre for Continuous Learning, where the library&#8217;s trainers planned out the library&#8217;s educational services together.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Creating open learning materials for information skills was at the heart of the development project. An open and online set of learning materials for information skills was created in Finnish and in English based on subject-specific course materials. The learning materials are available as self-study materials, as course learning materials and as support materials for individual guidance. The structure enables a continuum of in-depth knowledge during the different stages of study and working careers, from students just starting their studies to researchers.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Development project participants<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The library\u2019s educational services development project was carried out as a joint development project between the library&#8217;s trainers. The group of trainers, which consisted of about twenty people, held project meetings every couple of weeks. Among other things, the role of discipline-specific materials as well as the nature and content of the study materials drafted during the project were discussed in these meetings. Smaller working groups handled the thematic contents of the leaning materials in more detail.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Information Specialists Jussi Hyv\u00e4rinen and Marika Mahlavuori compiled the contents produced by the working groups as an in addition to their other duties. Project workers Niko Niskanen and Anni Tarkiainen were responsible for translating the learning materials and and for their technical implamentation respectively.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Content production of the learning materials<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The project began in the spring with the drafting of a broad outline as well as a review of learning materials related to information retrieval produced by our university and other higher education institutions. During the planning stage, we considered the target audience of the learning materials being drafted. In materials that are accessible to everyone, the different information retrieval needs \u2013 both systematic and occasional \u2013 of information seekers must be taken into account. Explaining information retrieval terminology to students, researchers and all of the library&#8217;s patrons in a comprehensible way was viewed as important.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Existing learning materials focused mainly on information retrieval carried out while writing one\u2019s thesis. We still considered it to be important, but we also focused on the fact that students will have access to the learning materials from the beginning of their studies \u2013 even if the information seeker is not a student, but rather, any library patron looking for research data out of professional or personal interest.&nbsp; Therefore, the same website needed to be available as both a guide and as learning materials, in Finnish and in English.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The feedback process<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In the spring, work began on a so-called raw text file, in which existing content on information retrieval was compiled and edited and new content was created. Based on the feedback from the library&#8217;s trainers, the raw text was refined and supplemented with i.a. discipline-specific examples.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">During the feedback stage, we were provided with a tangible understanding of the importance of experienced information specialists familiar with different disciplines. They provided information on publishing practices, databases, glossaries and stumbling blocks from medicine to history. We were given examples of searches and trivia related to different disciplines to illustrate and specify the guide, which had been written as more general. We learned that what applies in one discipline does not necessarily apply to another. Many thanks to our colleagues for this!<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Translation of the learning materials<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">To increase the range of possible use, it was decided that the learning materials would be drafted in a bilingual fashion. An English version of the information retrieval glossary in the learning materials was also created. The glossary was then used to translate the learning materials into English. Project worker Niko Niskanen was also responsible for proofreading the learning materials, which helped to harmonise the drafted learning materials.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Project-based processing allowed different parts of the project to overlap, which resulted in the learning materials being more coherent. Information gathered earlier helped in later content production, and seeing the information in context both made reviewing it easier and reduced unnecessary and duplicated work.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Setting up the learning materials on a WordPress platform<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Previously, the library\u2019s open learning materials have mainly been produced on a WordPress platform, and it was decided that the new learning materials would be handled in the same way. WordPress allows for a wide range of tools and embeddings to be used, which was found useful during the preparation of learning materials. A few add-ons also provided working language versions and the option to add embedding codes for ThingLink, which was used as an image tool, to the site.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Adding text content to the site could ultimately be done fast. However, translations and image processing took more time than expected. ThingLink made it possible for the images in the learning material to also look consistent. Producing new images and presentations with ThingLink was convenient, and the maintaining the generated image bank will be easy to maintain in the future.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Accessibility of the Material<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The accessibility of ThingLink images was one issue that was discussed during the project. According to the service provider, ThingLink meets the WCAG 2.1 AA level of accessibility when the player that is already part of the service is used. In our learning materials, the accessible player can be opened by clicking on the \u201cClick here to open the accessible version of this image\u201d link.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We wanted to make the online learning materials both technically functional and cognitively accessible. As the work progressed, we discovered that ThingLink presentations embedded on a website have their own limitations, and the accessibility that we were aiming for could not be reached using only the player. We solved these issues related to the extensive image data and ThingLink by supplementing the image texts, producing content around examples and editing the contents of original images and infographics while taking different user groups into account.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Several library employees participated in the creation of the learning material Guide to Information Retrieval. Rounds of comments within the project team on the text content, feedback from library trainers along with changes made to the content based on comments and feedback had an impact on the technical implementation, images and translation of the learning materials. Fortunately, some of the development ideas regarding the Guide to Information Retrieval could be postponed to a later date.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Next steps<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The learning material Guide to Information Retrieval created during the development project as well as the library service design project that has been launched form a basis for how the library&#8217;s educational services will be developed in the upcoming years. With the Guide to Information Retrieval and the library\u2019s other learning materials, along with the library\u2019s teaching and guidance services, the library supports students as they search for scientific information \u2013 from the start of their studies to the completion of their theses. The library\u2019s learning materials package also helps teachers and researchers in teaching, thesis guidance and their own research.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We will continue to maintain and develop the <em>Guide to Information Retrieval<\/em> as part of the library&#8217;s usual teaching development. Going forward, we will i.a. add discipline-specific information to the guide, link the guide&#8217;s materials to the library&#8217;s Uffe chatbot and evaluate the contents of the guide based on user feedback.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We will use common learning materials to develop common learning activities, online course implementations and automated exercises\/games that allow users to test their own skills.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Linking the guide to library bot Uffe<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Information seekers will also have an easier time accessing the <em>Guide to Information Retrieval<\/em> due to the fact that, going forward, the library\u2019s Uffe chatbot will direct information seekers to the contents of the <em>Guide to Information Retrieval<\/em> .
