Viitteidenhallintaohjelma RefWorksin tilaus lakkautetaan vuoden 2022 lopussa sopimusteknisist\u00e4 syist\u00e4. Tilauksen p\u00e4\u00e4ttyminen koskee sek\u00e4 nykyist\u00e4 ProQuest RefWorksia ett\u00e4 edellist\u00e4 Legacy-versiota. Henkil\u00f6kohtaisen RefWorks-lisenssin ostaminen ei ole valitettavasti mahdollista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirjasto kartoitti helmikuussa 2022 erilaisten viitteidenhallintaohjelmien nykyk\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 yliopistossamme ja k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jien toiveita ja ajatuksia tulevista ty\u00f6kaluista. Vastauksia saimme l\u00e4hes 200 \u2014 kiitos kaikille vastaajille! Vastaukset ovat auttaneet suuresti uusien viitteidenhallintaohjelmien valinnassa ja viitteidenhallinnan tuen jatkosuunnittelussa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mendeley ja Zotero k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n syksyst\u00e4 2022 alkaen, RefWorks s\u00e4ilyy vuoden 2022<\/strong> loppuun<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Kyselyyn vastanneiden enemmist\u00f6 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 RefWorksia tai Mendeleyt\u00e4. Mendeley sai kyselyss\u00e4 eniten kannatusta uudeksi viitteidenhallintaohjelmaksi. RefWorksin jatkoa toivottiin my\u00f6s, mutta valitettavasti siit\u00e4 joudutaan luopumaan. Kolmanneksi sijoittui avoimeen l\u00e4hdekoodiin perustuva Zotero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jatkossa kirjastosta saa tukea sek\u00e4 Mendeleyn ett\u00e4 Zoteron ilmaisversioiden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n.  Kirjasto luo erilaisia ohjeita ja oppaita ja j\u00e4rjest\u00e4\u00e4 koulutuksia ensi syksyst\u00e4 alkaen niin uusista ty\u00f6kaluista kuin RefWorksissa olevien viitteiden siirrosta uusiin ohjelmiin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toiveissa helppok\u00e4ytt\u00f6inen ja kaikille sopiva viitteidenhallintaohjelma<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Toiveet viitteidenhallintaty\u00f6kalujen ominaisuuksista toistuivat eri vastauksissa hyvin samankaltaisina: k\u00e4rkeen nousivat helppok\u00e4ytt\u00f6isyys, varma toimivuus ilman katkoja ja bugeja, k\u00e4ytt\u00f6oikeuden s\u00e4ilyminen my\u00f6s UEF-affiliaation j\u00e4lkeen, toimivuus eri ohjelmistoversioilla ja offline-k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 sek\u00e4 viitetyylien helppo muokattavuus. Moni vastaaja nosti esiin erilaisia aiempia k\u00e4ytt\u00f6ongelmia niin RefWorksin kuin muidenkin ohjelmien suhteen. Aukottomasti toimivaa ja kaikkien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n sopivaa viitteidenhallintaohjelmaa onkin aika haastavaa l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4. Viitteidenhallintaohjelmien perustoiminnot ovat kuitenkin suurelta osin samankaltaisia: kun osaa k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 yht\u00e4, osaa k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 my\u00f6s toista. Eri ohjelmia vertailemalla voi l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 itselleen sopivimman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirjastolta toivotaan ohjeita ja koulutusta viitteidenhallintaohjelmien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n sek\u00e4 viitteiden siirt\u00e4miseen RefWorksista<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Kirjasto pyysi my\u00f6s toiveita ja kommentteja viitteidenhallintaan ja erityisesti kirjaston tarjoamaan tukeen ja opastukseen liittyen. Keskeisimpi\u00e4 toiveita olivat pikainen ja selke\u00e4 tiedotus mahdollisista muutoksista ohjelmien suhteen, apua ja ohjeita viitteiden siirtoon, jos RefWorksista p\u00e4\u00e4tet\u00e4\u00e4n luopua sek\u00e4 selkeit\u00e4 ohjeita uusien ty\u00f6kalujen k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n lyhyiden opasvideoiden muodossa. Kyselyn vastauksista nousi vahvasti esille toive kirjaston tarjoamasta viitteidenhallinnan tuesta  jatkossakin. Toivottuja asioita onkin ryhdytty valmistelemaan kirjastolla \u2014 mainittakoon, ett\u00e4 moni  kirjastolainen on jo ryhtynyt perehtym\u00e4\u00e4n Mendeleyn ja Zoteron saloihin.  Uusien viitteidenhallintaohjelmien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6notosta ja RefWorksista luopumisesta tiedotetaan ja muistutellaan my\u00f6s hyviss\u00e4 ajoin ensi syksyn\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reference management program RefWorks’ subscription will be ceased at the end of 2022 due to contract technical reasons. Termination of subscription applies to both the current ProQuest RefWorks and the previous version of Legacy. Unfortunately, buying a personal RefWorks licence is not possible.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, the library surveyed the current use of various reference management programs at our University and users’ wishes and thoughts about future tools. We received nearly 200 responses \u2014 thanks to all respondents! Responses have greatly assisted in selecting new reference management programs and further planning support for reference management.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mendeley and Zotero introduced from autumn 2022, RefWorks will remain until the end of 2022<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The majority of the respondents of the survey currently use RefWorks or Mendeley. Mendeley received the most support in the poll as a new reference management program. A continuation of RefWorks was also hoped for, but unfortunately it won\u2019t be an option after 2022. Third ranked open-source Zotero.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the future, the library will offer support for free versions of both Mendeley and Zotero. The library creates guides and organizes trainings starting next autumn. Help and guidance for transferring references from RefWorks will be also provided.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easy to use and suitable reference manager for everyone?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hopes for the features of reference management tools were repeated in different responses, with ease of use, secure functionality without breaks and bugs, retention of access even after UEF affiliation, functionality with different versions of software and offline use, and easy customizability of reference styles. Many respondents raised various problems with RefWorks as well as other programs. It is quite challenging to find a reference manager suitable for everyone. However, the basic functions of reference managers are mainly similar: when you know how to use one, you know how to use the other as well. Comparing different programs, one can find the most suitable for themselves.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Respondents expressed the wish for guidance and training in the use of reference management programs and the transfer of references from RefWorks<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The library also asked for wishes and comments regarding reference management, particularly in relation to the support and guidance provided by the library. The key wishes were prompt and clear information on possible changes to the programs, assistance and guidance on references transfer should it be decided to abandon RefWorks, and clear instructions for the use of new tools in the form of short tutorial videos. The desire for continued support for reference management offered by the library was strongly expressed in the survey responses. These things are already being prepared by the library \u2014 it should be mentioned that many librarians have already started to get acquainted with Mendeley and Zotero’s secrets. The introduction of new reference management programs and the abandonment of RefWorks will also be informed and recalled well in advance next autumn.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
