Horisontti Eurooppa -ohjelmassa<\/a> halutaan edist\u00e4\u00e4 avoimen tieteen sis\u00e4llytt\u00e4mist\u00e4 kaikkien tutkijoiden toimintatavaksi. Yhten\u00e4 ohjelmassa huomioitavana kohteena on avoin yhteisty\u00f6, jota voidaan toteuttaa hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 kansalaistiedett\u00e4. Ajatuksena on, ett\u00e4 avoin yhteisty\u00f6 mahdollistaa kaikkien osaajien huomioimisen tutkimus- ja innovaatioprosesseissa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kansalaistieteen keskeisimpiin p\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4riin kuuluu kansalaisten osallistaminen uutta tietoa tuottavaan tieteelliseen toimintaan, josta hy\u00f6tyv\u00e4t sek\u00e4 tutkijat ett\u00e4 kansalaiset. Kansalaisten osallistuminen kansalaistiedehankkeisiin ei rajoitu vain aineiston keruuseen tai tutkimuksen kohteeksi, vaan he voivat olla mukana useammassa tutkimusprosessin vaiheissa tai koko hankkeen ajan suunnittelusta raportointiin ja viestint\u00e4\u00e4n. Kansalaistiede on kuten muutkin tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4t, joihin sis\u00e4ltyy erilaisia rajoituksia ja oletuksia, jotka tulee huomioida ja hallita tutkimusta teht\u00e4ess\u00e4. Kansalaistiedehankkeisiin osallistuneille kansalaisille annetaan samalla tavalla palautetta ja tunnustusta kuin ammattitutkijoillekin ja huomioidaan vastaavasti my\u00f6s tutkimuseettiset n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kansalaistieteen ajatuksena on kansalaisten osallistaminen tieteen tekemiseen ja tieteest\u00e4 raportoimiseen. Siihen on erityisesti johtanut kiinnostus omasta elinymp\u00e4rist\u00f6st\u00e4 ja sen kehitt\u00e4misest\u00e4. Erityisesti vuorovaikutus tutkijoiden ja kansalaisten v\u00e4lill\u00e4 on omiaan v\u00e4hent\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n valeuutisten ja virheellisen informaation m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4. Erityisesti t\u00e4m\u00e4 korostuu siin\u00e4, ett\u00e4 tutkimustuloksista raportoidaan riitt\u00e4v\u00e4n yleistajuisesti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onko t\u00e4m\u00e4 kansalaistiedett\u00e4?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tuohon kysymykseen voi olla hankala antaa yksinkertaista vastausta. Yleisimmin kansalaistiedehankkeet n\u00e4kyv\u00e4t perinteisell\u00e4 tasolla, eli hy\u00f6dynnet\u00e4\u00e4n joukkoistamista tutkimusaineiston keruussa, kuten erilaisia havaintoja ker\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 (esimerkiksi lajihavainnot, muurahaiset, hiekkalaskeumat). Kansalaistiedett\u00e4 voidaan kuitenkin tehd\u00e4 tulkitsemalla tietoa, niin sanotun joukko\u00e4lykkyyden keinoin (erilaiset haastekilpailut) tai osallistamalla kansalaisia ongelmien m\u00e4\u00e4rittelyyn ja aineiston keruuseen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laajin kansalaistieteen kokonaisuus on yhteistoiminnallinen toimintatapa, jossa kansalainen on mukana koko hankkeen sen suunnittelusta aina analysointiin ja raportointiin. Kansalaistiedehankkeista voidaan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 erilaisia nimityksi\u00e4, kuten v\u00e4est\u00f6kysely, kansalaiskysely tai sukututkimus. Olennaisinta on, ett\u00e4 kansalaistiedehanketta johtaa ammattimainen tutkija. Kansalaistiedett\u00e4 hy\u00f6dynnet\u00e4\u00e4n siis laajasti, mutta aina siit\u00e4 ei k\u00e4ytet\u00e4 tuota outoa nimityst\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teknologia palvelee kansalaistiedehankkeita<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Uudet tietotekniset palvelut edist\u00e4v\u00e4t kansalaisten osallistumista tieteellisiin tutkimushankkeisiin. Kyselyit\u00e4 voidaan l\u00e4hett\u00e4\u00e4 kustannustehokkaasti verkossa ja avoimen l\u00e4hdekoodin j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4t mahdollistavat aineistoanalyysien toteuttamisen helposti. Toisaalta havaintoja voidaan pyyt\u00e4\u00e4 erilaisten tietoteknisten palveluiden kautta, jolloin ne saadaan nopeasti sijoitettua esimerkiksi karttapohjalle, jolloin niist\u00e4 voidaan toteuttaa nopeasti visuaalisia raportteja. T\u00e4rkeint\u00e4 on julkaista kansalaistiedehankkeiden aineistot, aineistojen kuvailutiedot ja tutkimustulokset avoimen saatavuuden periaatteiden mukaisesti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Horizon Europe program<\/a> wants to increase open science as a modus operandi. One of the targets to be considered in the program is open cooperation and the citizen science is the one of key element in this case. The idea is that open cooperation enables all experts to be considered in the research and innovation processes.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main objectives of citizen science include engaging citizens in scientific activities that produce new knowledge, benefiting both scientist and citizens. Citizens\u2019 participation in citizen science projects in not only limited to the collecting of the data or to be subject to the research but may be involved in several stages of the research process or throughout the project, from project planning to project reporting and communication about the outputs of the project. Citizen science is like other research methods, incorporating various limitations and assumptions that should be noted and managed when conducting research. Citizens involved in citizen science projects are given feedback and recognition in the same way as professional scientist, and they must also observe research ethics.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea of citizen science is engaging citizens in doing science and reporting on science. The citizen science has been driven by an interest in his\/her own habitat and how to develop that. Especially interaction between researchers and citizens is likely to reduce the amount of fake news and disinformation. This is emphasized by the fact that the results of the research are reported in sufficient general terms.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is this citizen science?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It can be tricky to give a simple answer to that question. Most commonly, citizen science projects are at the traditional level, that is utilizing crowdsourcing in the collection of research data, such as various observations by collecting (for example species observations, ants, sand deposits). However, citizen science can be done by interpreting information by distributed intelligence (various challenge contests), or by engaging citizens in the defining of the problems and collecting data.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most extensive body of citizen science is a collaborative research process. In this case, the citizen is involved in the entire project, from designing and analysing to reporting the research. Various denominations can be used for citizen science projects, such as population surveys, citizen survey or genealogy. It is the most pertinent that the citizen science project is run by a professional researcher. So, citizen science is widely exploited, but not always using that designation.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technology Serves Citizen Science Projects<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

New information technology services contribute to the participation of citizens in the scientific research projects. Online surveys can be sent cost-effectively and open-source software allow data analyses to be implemented easily. On the other hand, observations can be requested through a variety of information technology services and it is easy to create visual reports quickly from the service. The most important thing is to publish the datasets of citizen science projects, metadata, and research outputs in accordance with the principles of open access.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
