Luokituksia tekev\u00e4t 23 tieteenalakohtaista JUFO-paneelia, joissa on mukana tieteen- ja tutkimusalan\/tutkimus- ja julkaisuty\u00f6n asiantuntijoita. JUFO:ssa julkaisukanavat luokitellaan kolmeen eri luokkaan (tasot 1, 2 ja 3) perustuen asiantuntijapaneeleiden arviointiin julkaisukanavan laadusta. Taso 0 kertoo, ettei julkaisukanava viel\u00e4 t\u00e4yt\u00e4 jotakin tason 1 kriteereist\u00e4, eik\u00e4 siten ole mik\u00e4\u00e4n erityinen status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Julkaisufoorumiluokitus on tarkoitettu suurten julkaisum\u00e4\u00e4rien keskim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4isen laadun arviointiin, eik\u00e4 sit\u00e4 tule k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 yksikk\u00f6- tai tutkijantason arviointiin tutkimusmetriikan vastuullisen k\u00e4yt\u00f6n ohjeistuksen mukaisesti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>T\u00e4ss\u00e4 muutamia yleisimpi\u00e4 kirjastosta kysyttyj\u00e4 kysymyksi\u00e4 ja vastauksia JUFO-luokituksesta:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mit\u00e4 JUFO sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>JUFO:ssa on listattuna ja luokiteltuna tieteellisi\u00e4 julkaisukanavia, joissa suomalaiset korkeakoulut ovat julkaisseet. Julkaisukanava voi olla lehti tai sarja, kustantaja tai konferenssi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tieteellisell\u00e4 julkaisukanavalla tulee olla toimituskunta sek\u00e4 vertaisarviointipolitiikka, ja julkaisukanavan tulee olla erikoistunut tieteellisten tutkimustulosten julkaisemiseen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kuinka JUFO-tasot m\u00e4\u00e4ritell\u00e4\u00e4n?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tasojen 1-3 julkaisujen tulee olla vertaisarvioituja ja tieteellisi\u00e4 julkaisukanavia. Taso 1 on tieteellisen julkaisemisen \u201cperustaso\u201d, johon suurin osa julkaisukanavista sijoittuu. Tasot 2 ja 3 panelistit ovat arvioineet keskim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ist\u00e4 korkeatasoisemmiksi ja vaikuttavammiksi. N\u00e4ill\u00e4 tasoilla on tietyt kiinti\u00f6t perustuen julkaisuvolyymiin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taso 0 sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4 julkaisukanavia, jotka eiv\u00e4t t\u00e4yt\u00e4 tasojen 1-3 kriteereit\u00e4 sek\u00e4 uusia julkaisukanavia, joita ei ole viel\u00e4 arvioitu. Lis\u00e4\u00e4 ja tarkemmin luokitusten perusteista l\u00f6yd\u00e4t <a href=\"https:\/\/julkaisufoorumi.fi\/fi\/arvioinnit\/luokitteluperusteet\">t\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mihin JUFO-tasoja It\u00e4-Suomen yliopistossa k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u00e4-Suomen yliopiston julkaisut rekister\u00f6id\u00e4\u00e4n <a href=\"https:\/\/wiivi.uef.fi\/crisyp\/disp\/2_\/fi\/welcome\/nop?menuid=0\">SoleCRIS<\/a>-tietokantaan ja raportoidaan vuosittain opetus- ja kulttuuriministeri\u00f6lle. Jokainen julkaisu saa JUFO-tason julkaisukanavansa eli joko lehden, kirjakustantajan tai konferenssin mukaan. Yliopiston valtiolta saama rahoitus perustuu osittain julkaisujen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4n ja julkaisujen JUFO-tasoihin. Kukin julkaisu saa JUFO-tasonsa julkaisuraportoinnin yhteydess\u00e4 automaattisesti rajapintojen avulla, eli niit\u00e4 ei manuaalisesti julkaisuille tallenneta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Miten JUFO vaikuttaa julkaisumaksujen tukemiseen?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u00e4-Suomen yliopisto tukee Open Access \u2013julkaisumaksujen (APC-maksut) korvaamista, mik\u00e4li tutkimuksen rahoittaja ei hyv\u00e4ksy julkaisumaksuja hankkeen kustannuksiksi. Tuki koskee JUFO-luokkiin 2 ja 3 kuuluvien julkaisukanavien kustannuksia. Tuki ei koske Open Access \u2013julkaisumaksuja tilausmaksullisiin julkaisukanaviin, joissa julkaisu saatetaan avoimeksi erillisell\u00e4 maksulla (ns. Hybridi-julkaiseminen). Tiedekunnilla voi olla n\u00e4ist\u00e4 poikkeavia ohjeistuksia, l\u00f6yd\u00e4t lis\u00e4\u00e4 tietoa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/fi\/avoimen-julkaisemisen-tukeminen-ja-uef\">t\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mist\u00e4 l\u00f6yd\u00e4n julkaisukanavien JUFO-tasot?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jfp.csc.fi\/web\/haku\">JUFO-portaalista<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Haka-tunnuksella kirjautumalla saa tarkempia tietoja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Olen julkaissut samassa lehdess\u00e4 useamman kerran, mutta julkaisuilla on eri JUFO-tasot. Miksi?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>T\u00e4ydennysarviointeja tehd\u00e4\u00e4n jatkuvasti. Niiss\u00e4 tason 1 julkaisuja voidaan laskea tasolle 0 tai nostaa 0-tason lehti\u00e4 1-tasolle. Niiss\u00e4 mukaan voidaan ottaa my\u00f6s kokonaan uusia julkaisukanavia. Tasoja 2 ja 3 panelistit arvioivat vain nelj\u00e4n vuoden v\u00e4lein teht\u00e4viss\u00e4 kaikkia julkaisukanavia koskevassa laajassa uudelleenarvioinnissa. Julkaisun JUFO-taso m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ytyy siis julkaisuvuoden perusteella ja virallistuu, kun OKM:n vuosittainen julkaisutiedonkeruu vahvistetaan loppukev\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Miksi jokin lehti ei ole JUFO:ssa?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ks. edellinen vastaus. Saattaa olla, ettei kukaan ole viel\u00e4 ehdottanut lehte\u00e4 lis\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4ksi Julkaisufoorumiin ja\/tai siin\u00e4 ei ole viel\u00e4 ilmestynyt suomalaisten tutkijoiden julkaisuja, jotta lehti olisi p\u00e4\u00e4tynyt JUFO-arviointiin. The classifications are drafted by 23 discipline-specific JUFO panels with experts in publishing and research in the specific scientific and research disciplines. In JUFO, publication channels are classified into three classes (levels 1, 2 and 3) based on a quality rating provided by the expert panels. Level 0 indicates that the publication channel does not yet meet some of the criteria of level 1, meaning that 0 is not a status as such.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The publication forum classification is intended for evaluating the average quality of large volumes of publications. It should not be used for evaluating individual units or researchers in accordance with the instructions concerning the responsible use of research metrics.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Below are some of the most frequently asked questions and answers on the JUFO classification.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">What does JUFO contain?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">JUFO lists and classifies scientific publication channels with publications by Finnish institutes of higher education. A publication channel may be a journal or series, publisher or conference.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A scientific publication channel must have editorial staff as well as a peer-review practice, and the channel must specialise in publishing scientific research results.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">How are JUFO levels determined?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Publications on levels 1\u20133 must be peer-reviewed and scientific. Level 1 is the basic level of scientific publishing, which most of the channels are on. Panellists have evaluated levels 2 and 3 to be of higher than average quality and have an above-average impact. These levels have certain publication volume quotas.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Level 0 contains publication channels that do not meet the criteria of levels 1\u20133 as well as new publication channels that have not been classified yet.<br \/>For further and more detailed information on classification grounds, please visit <a href=\"https:\/\/julkaisufoorumi.fi\/en\/evaluations\/classification-criteria\">Classification criteria<\/a>.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">What are JUFO levels used for at the University of Eastern Finland?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Publications by the University of Eastern Finland are registered in the <a href=\"https:\/\/wiivi.uef.fi\/crisyp\/disp\/_\/en\/welcome\/nop?kieli=1&amp;menuid=0\">SoleCRIS<\/a> database and reported to the Ministry of Education and Culture each year. Each publication is provided with a JUFO level based on its publication channel, i.e. a journal, book publisher or conference. Government funding allocated to the university is in part based on the number of publications and the JUFO levels of the publications. Each publication is assigned its JUFO level automatically in connection with publication reporting with the help of interfaces, meaning that levels are not recorded for publications manually.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">How does JUFO influence the payment of article processing charges?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The University of Eastern Finland supports the reimbursement of Open Access article processing charges (APCs) if the funder of the research does not approve processing charges as project costs. The support is applied to costs incurred by publication channels on JUFO levels 2 and 3. The support is not applied to Open Access processing charges for publication channels subject to a subscription fee, in which publications are made open by way of a separate charge (so-called hybrid publication). Faculties may have their own instructions. More <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/en\/supporting-open-publishing-and-uef\">information.<\/a><\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Where can I find JUFO levels for publication channels?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In the <a href=\"https:\/\/jfp.csc.fi\/en\/web\/haku\/?restartApplication\">JUFO portal<\/a><br \/>You can access more detailed information when signed in using your Haka ID.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I have published in the same journal several times, but the publications are on different JUFO levels. Why is this?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Supplementary evaluation is carried out continually. In it, level 1 publications may be downgraded to level 0, or level 0 journals may be upgraded to level 1. This evaluation process may also include completely new publication channels. Panellists evaluate levels 2 and 3 only every four years in a comprehensive re-evaluation process pertaining to all publication channels. This means that the JUFO level of the publication is determined based on the year of publication and made official when the annual publication data collection of the Ministry of Education and Culture is completed in late spring.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Why are some journals not featured in JUFO?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">See the previous answer. It is possible that no one has suggested the journal to be added to the Publication Forum and\/or it has not yet featured publications by Finnish researchers, which is a requirement to be eligible for JUFO evaluation. An empty JUFO level indicates that the channel is under review.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">How can researchers use the JUFO classification?<\/bdo><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><bdo lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You can use JUFO to search for scientific publication channels that are evaluated by experts in the field.
