Aloitin It\u00e4-Suomen yliopiston kirjastossa opetus- ja tietopalvelujen p\u00e4\u00e4llikk\u00f6n\u00e4 vuoden 2021 alussa. It\u00e4-Suomen yliopistoon siirryin Vaasan yliopistosta Tiedekirjasto Tritonian koulutuksen ja tutkimuksen tuen palveluiden p\u00e4\u00e4llik\u00f6n teht\u00e4v\u00e4st\u00e4. Tritonian kirjasto- ja opetuksen kehitt\u00e4misen teht\u00e4vien lis\u00e4ksi olen ty\u00f6skennellyt opettajana Turun ammattikorkeakoulun kirjasto- ja tietopalvelualan koulutuksessa. Omat hallintotieteiden maisterin, yhteiskuntatieteiden maisterin ja valtiotieteiden tohtorin tutkinto-opintoni suoritin Lapin, Tampereen ja Turun yliopistoissa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tammikuun sain uutena It\u00e4-Suomen yliopiston kirjastolaisena viett\u00e4\u00e4 edelt\u00e4j\u00e4ni Helena Silvennoinen-Kuikan hyv\u00e4ss\u00e4 perehdytyksess\u00e4. Tammikuun lopussa Helena saateltiin el\u00e4kkeelle haikein ja syd\u00e4mellisin et\u00e4l\u00e4ksi\u00e4isin ja helmikuun alusta opetus- ja tietopalveluiden p\u00e4\u00e4llik\u00f6n kahden hengen tiimi supistui tavanomaisen yhden henkil\u00f6n kokoonpanoon, jossa toimin kirjaston tiedonhaun ja -hallinnan opetuksen ja ohjauksen sek\u00e4 kirjaston tutkimuksen tuen palveluiden vastuuhenkil\u00f6n\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u00e4-Suomen yliopiston kirjaston palveluita tuotetaan kirjastossa viiden palvelun voimin: Asiakaspalvelut, Opetus- ja tietopalvelut, Sis\u00e4iset palvelut, Tietoaineistopalvelut ja Verkko- ja julkaisupalvelut. Kaikki viisi palvelua kattavat sek\u00e4 Joensuun ett\u00e4 Kuopion kampukset. Siten et\u00e4palaverit olivat kirjastossa tuttu ty\u00f6skentelytapa jo koronaa edelt\u00e4v\u00e4lt\u00e4 ajalta, mutta kuluneen vuoden et\u00e4ty\u00f6skentely on synnytt\u00e4nyt kirjastossakin entist\u00e4 laajempia ja monipuolisempia et\u00e4yhteisty\u00f6n muotoja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opetus- ja tietopalvelut vastaavat kirjaston tiedonhaun ja -hallinnan opetuksista ja ohjauksista ja tietopalvelusta sek\u00e4 tutkimuksen tuesta. Opetus- ja tietopalveluita tuotetaan koko yliopistoyhteis\u00f6lle aloittavista opiskelijoista jatko-opiskelijoihin ja henkil\u00f6kuntaan saakka. Tiedonhankinnan opetuksella ja tietopalvelulla on korkeakoulukirjastoissa pitk\u00e4t perinteet, mutta erityisesti viimeksi kuluneen vuosikymmenen aikana niiden rinnalle ovat nousseet kirjaston tutkimuksen tuen palvelut. Kirjasto tarjoaa tukipalveluita mm. tutkimusaineistojen hallintaa, julkaisemista, julkaisumaksuja, tutkimuksen ja tutkijan n\u00e4kyvyytt\u00e4, tutkimuksen arviointia sek\u00e4 avointa tiedett\u00e4 koskevissa kysymyksiss\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yksi palvelu ei suinkaan vastaa kaikesta t\u00e4st\u00e4, vaan tutkimuksen tuen palveluita tuotetaan kirjastossa yli palvelurajojen ja viel\u00e4 laajemmin yli yliopiston yksikk\u00f6rajojen kirjaston, tietotekniikkapalveluiden, kehitt\u00e4mispalveluiden tutkimuspalveluiden ja yleishallinto- ja lakipalveluiden yhteisty\u00f6n\u00e4 Tutkimusaineistojen tuen verkostossa. Helmikuun alussa k\u00e4ynnistyneess\u00e4 Datatuen kehitt\u00e4minen osana tutkimuksen tukea -hankkeessa yliopiston datatuen palveluita kehitet\u00e4\u00e4n toimivammaksi palvelukokonaisuudeksi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edell\u00e4 mainituista asioista ja kaikkinaisissa tiedonhaun ja -hallinnan opetukseen ja ohjaukseen, tietopalveluun ja tutkimuksen tukeen liittyvist\u00e4 asioista saa kysy\u00e4 lis\u00e4\u00e4 ja ottaa yhteytt\u00e4 kirjastoon, mukaan lukien minuun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I started as the head of Training and information services at the University of Eastern Finland Library at the beginning of 2021. Before working at the University of Eastern Finland, I served as the head of Education and research support services at the Tritonia Academic Library at the University of Vaasa. In addition to library and digital education development tasks at Tritonia, I have worked as a teacher of library and information services at Turku University of Applied Sciences. I completed my own Master\u2019s Degree in Administrative Science, Master\u2019s Degree in Social Sciences and Doctorate in Social Sciences at the universities of Lapland, Tampere and Turku.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a new member of the UEF Library staff, I had the chance to spend January in the expert tutelage of my predecessor, Helena Silvennoinen-Kuikka. In the end of January, Helena was waved off to retirement in a bittersweet and heartfelt remote ceremony, and the two-member head of Training and information services was cut down to its usual one-member formation at the beginning of February. The team now consists of me, serving as the person in charge of support services for education and guidance related to information retrieval and management as well as research support services at the library.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The services of the UEF Library are produced by Customer services, Training and information services, Internal services, Collection services and Library IT & publishing Services. All five services cover both the Joensuu and Kuopio campuses. This means that remote meetings were commonplace at the library even before the Covid-19 pandemic, but remote work during the past year has yielded even more comprehensive and versatile forms of remote cooperation even at the library.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Training and Information Services are in charge of information retrieval and management training and guidance at the library as well as information services and research support. Services are offered to the entire university community from first-year students to post-doctoral researchers and staff. Information retrieval training and information services have long traditions in academic libraries, but in particular during the past ten years, research support services have emerged alongside them. The library offers support services for activities such as research data management, publishing, article processing charges, research and researcher visibility, research evaluation and questions related to open science.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These services can of course not be provided by a single service. Instead, research support services are provided by the library across service boundaries and even more comprehensively across university unit boundaries in cooperation with the library, IT services, development services, research services and general administration and legal services in the research data support network. The project ”Developing data support as part of research support” (Datatuen kehitt\u00e4minen osana tutkimuksen tukea) that started in the beginning of February aims at developing and unifying the data support services offered by the different university units.<\/bdo><\/p>\n\n\n\n
