Not necessarily for sonic reasons.\u00a0 25 years ago I came here to record this famous stereo-speleophonie, when the tide is rising and waves, getting short and shorter, are insinuating through the most little interstices of each rock, suggesting me, with my handy binaural recording system, that one of them rock could take the place of my own head and skull.<br>(<a href=\"https:\/\/cressound.grenoble.archi.fr\/son\/fds_tixier_mcoisans\/lesconil_08_short_waves.mp3\">https:\/\/cressound.grenoble.archi.fr\/son\/fds_tixier_mcoisans\/lesconil_08_short_waves.mp3<\/a>)<br>\u00a0<br>These new days on the spot, my feet took the place of my head and ears: I noticed that walking at low tide on this rocky beach needed to be consciously aware of each step I was making.<br>\u00a0<br>Remembering J\u2013F Augoyard seminal work (step by step), came to my mind how, in our modern cities, walking has become dependent of the regularity, the normality of the ground we step on. Like a built abstraction of the real soil, town planners intend to make it more or less horizontal, mineral, regular\u2026 and when the geography requires to climb, up or down, they manage to build stairs, which can be seen as horizontality in reduction. The use of the term \u00ab\u00a0planning, town planners\u2026\u00a0\u00bb itself is not innocent, for the adjective\u00a0<em>plan<\/em>\u00a0is an equivalent to\u00a0<em>flat<\/em>.<br>\u00a0<br>Is it because I learned to walk in a montanuous countryside, where streets and pavements were exceptions instead of a rule, where bending your knees, adjusting the soles of your feet, jumping and climbing was part of this walk learning\u00a0? I was struck by the contrast.<br>\u00a0<br>Here in Goudoul\u2019s rocks, of only 2 or 3 per cent slope, there is no regularity, no exact horizontality and for though it is of minerality, there is no danger of slipping \u2014 due to the matter of the rock itself (volcanic granite) \u2014 so that each micro space you put your step on is different: you have to mind each one of them. Pas forc\u00e9ment pour des raisons sonores.\u00a0Il y a 25 ans, je suis venu enregistrer cette fameuse st\u00e9r\u00e9ophonie, alors que la mar\u00e9e monte et que les vagues, de plus en plus courtes, s&#8217;insinuent dans les moindres interstices de chaque rocher, me sugg\u00e9rant, avec mon syst\u00e8me d&#8217;enregistrement binaural, que l&#8217;un d&#8217;entre eux pourrait prendre la place de ma propre t\u00eate et de mon propre cr\u00e2ne.<br>(illustration)<br>\u00a0<br>Ces nouveaux jours sur place, mes pieds ont pris la place de ma t\u00eate et de mes oreilles : j&#8217;ai remarqu\u00e9 que marcher \u00e0 mar\u00e9e basse sur cette plage rocheuse n\u00e9cessitait d&#8217;\u00eatre conscient de chaque pas que je faisais.<br>\u00a0<br>En me souvenant de l&#8217;\u0153uvre s\u00e9minale de JFAugoyard (step by step), je me suis souvenu que, dans nos villes modernes, la marche est devenue d\u00e9pendante de la r\u00e9gularit\u00e9, de la normalit\u00e9 du sol que nous foulons. Comme une abstraction construite du sol r\u00e9el, les urbanistes entendent le rendre plus ou moins horizontal, min\u00e9ral, r\u00e9gulier&#8230; &amp; lorsque la g\u00e9ographie exige de monter ou de descendre, ils s&#8217;arrangent pour construire des escaliers, qui peuvent \u00eatre vus comme une horizontalit\u00e9 en r\u00e9duction.L&#8217;utilisation du terme \u00ab planification, urbanistes \u00bb lui-m\u00eame n&#8217;est pas innocent, car l&#8217;adjectif plan est un \u00e9quivalent de plat.<br>\u00a0<br>Est-ce parce que j&#8217;ai appris \u00e0 marcher dans une campagne montagnarde, o\u00f9 les rues et les trottoirs \u00e9taient des exceptions plut\u00f4t qu&#8217;une r\u00e8gle, o\u00f9 plier les genoux, ajuster la plante des pieds, sauter et grimper faisait partie de l&#8217;apprentissage de la marche ? J&#8217;ai \u00e9t\u00e9 frapp\u00e9e par le contraste.<br>\u00a0<br>Ici, dans les rochers de Goudoul, dont la pente n&#8217;est que de 2 ou 3 %, il n&#8217;y a pas de r\u00e9gularit\u00e9, pas d&#8217;horizontalit\u00e9 exacte &amp; car bien que min\u00e9ral, il n&#8217;y a pas de danger de glissade &#8211; du fait de la mati\u00e8re de la roche elle-m\u00eame (granit volcanique) &#8211; de sorte que chaque micro-espace sur lequel on pose le pied est diff\u00e9rent : il faut faire attention \u00e0 chacun d&#8217;entre eux.<br>Cela signifie que l&#8217;on ne peut pas marcher sans \u00eatre prudent et conscient de l&#8217;endroit o\u00f9 l&#8217;on va poser le pied suivant. Vous devez litt\u00e9ralement avoir \u00e0 l&#8217;esprit chaque pas que vous faites.<br>\u00a0<br>Je ne veux pas dire que cela pourrait \u00eatre une bonne alternative \u00e0 l&#8217;urbanisme, mais au niveau de la conscience d&#8217;\u00eatre ici (da-sein), de la relation de notre corps au monde, cela offre un environnement beaucoup plus riche, compar\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;aseptisation de nos villes modernes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Text &amp; picture: juL McOISANS The rocks of Goudoul are my favorit place in Lesconil.
