Vierailu Geriatrische Gesundheitszentren der Stadt Grazissa Itävallassa (II/3)

Olemme iloisia voidessamme jakaa kokemuksemme vierailustamme Geriatrische Gesundheitszentren der Stadt Grazissa, eli geriatrisella sairaala-alueella Grazissa, Itävallassa. Tämä vierailu tarjosi syvällisen katsauksen laitoksen historiaan ja toimintaan, joka on ollut merkittävä osa Grazin terveydenhuoltoa jo lähes 300 vuoden ajan.

Geriatrische Gesundheitszentren der Stadt Graz perustettiin alun perin vuonna 1724 keisari Kaarle VI:n toimesta. Silloin, alueelle rakennettiin kirkko ja siellä sijaitsi vanhaa aikaa huokuen, niin kutsuttu ’’köyhäintalo’’ sekä ’’naimattomien äitien äitiysklinikka’’. Sittemmin alue on kehittynyt moderniksi geriatriseen hoitoon erikoistuneeksi keskukseksi. Keskus tarjoaa laajan valikoiman palveluita, mukaan lukien akuuttihoito, remobilisaatio ja palliatiivinen hoito.

Vierailumme kohokohta oli tutustuminen Albert Schweitzer Klinikiin, joka on nimetty kuuluisan humanistin ja Nobel-palkitun Albert Schweitzerin mukaan. Schweitzer oli monialainen tieteilijä, lääkäri, teologi ja filosofi, joka tunnetaan erityisesti elämäntarkoitusta ja elämän kunnioitusta korostavasta filosofiastaan. Klinikka tarjoaa erikoistuneita palveluita, kuten neurologian ja geriatrisen lääketieteen hoitoa sekä palliatiivista hoitoa.

Saimme mahdollisuuden kiertää ja tutustua palliatiivisella osastolla, jossa potilaille tarjotaan kokonaisvaltaista ja oireita lievittävää hoitoa. Lisäksi pääsimme nauttimaan alueen kauniista puistomaisista ympäristöistä, joissa puron solina ja viihtyisät maisemat loivat rauhoittavan ilmapiirin. Vierailimme myös omaishoitajille suunnatussa koulutuskeskuksessa, joka tarjoaa arvokasta tukea ja koulutusta omaishoitajille.

Visit to Geriatrische Gesundheitszentren der Stadt Graz

We are delighted to share our experience from our visit to Geriatrische Gesundheitszentren der Stadt Graz, the geriatric hospital area. This visit provided an in-depth look at the institution’s history and operations, which have been a significant part of Graz’s healthcare for nearly 300 years.

Geriatrische Gesundheitszentren der Stadt Graz was originally established in 1724 by Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI. At that time, the area included a church, a “poorhouse,” and a “maternity clinic for unmarried mothers,” reflecting the era. Since then, the area has evolved into a modern center specializing in geriatric care, offering a wide range of services, including acute care, remobilization, and palliative care.

The highlight of our visit was exploring the Albert Schweitzer Clinic, named after the renowned humanist and Nobel laureate Albert Schweitzer. Schweitzer was a physician, theologian, and philosopher, known for his philosophy emphasizing the purpose and reverence of life. The clinic provides specialized services such as neurology, geriatric medicine, and palliative care.

We had the opportunity to tour the palliative care unit, where comprehensive and symptom-relieving care is provided to patients. Additionally, we enjoyed the beautiful park-like surroundings, with the soothing sound of streams and pleasant landscapes creating a calming atmosphere. We also visited the training center for caregivers, which offers valuable support and education for caregivers.
