At Sofia University, a teacher training session hosted on February 19th 2026 at the Centre of Excellence UNITe brought educators together to explore how learning analytics can better support students\u2014especially those at risk. Led by Tanya Yordanova, the session focused on turning advanced analytics concepts into practical teaching strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training began by addressing a familiar challenge: while learning analytics offers strong potential, it is still not widely embedded in everyday teaching. As part of the ISILA project, the session highlighted the need for clearer, scalable approaches that help educators identify and support students early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants were introduced to the key types of learning analytics\u2014ranging from descriptive and diagnostic to predictive and prescriptive\u2014providing a structured way to understand how data can inform decisions. This framework helped position analytics not as a single tool, but as a progression from understanding what has happened to deciding what should be done next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key takeaway was the value of combining multiple data sources. By using multimodal data\u2014from learning platforms, student work, and self-reported input\u2014educators can develop a more nuanced picture of student engagement. This richer perspective supports earlier and more targeted interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session reinforced a clear message: effective use of learning analytics is not about complexity, but about making data meaningful, actionable, and aligned with real teaching needs<\/p>\n\n\n\n
