While valuable insights can be gained from analyzing learner data, such analysis can sometimes be misleading, particularly when it involves predicting students&#8217; final course achievements or drawing generalized conclusions from these predictions that do not account for individual student engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"960\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/isila\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/197\/2026\/03\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1126\" style=\"width:606px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/isila\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/197\/2026\/03\/image.png 960w, https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/isila\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/197\/2026\/03\/image-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/isila\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/197\/2026\/03\/image-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/isila\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/197\/2026\/03\/image-768x768.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The study presented by BMU authors Emilija Kisi\u0107, Miroslava Raspopovi\u0107 Mili\u0107, Jovana Jovi\u0107, Nemanja Zdravkovi\u0107 and Faruk Selimovi\u0107, at the eLearning 2024 conference analyzes learner data from two different student cohorts that attended the same course in two different academic years. The focus of the paper is placed on identifying patterns in student engagement, similarities between two cohorts and exploring individual differences of learners. The interpretation of student activities sequences was implemented using sequence plotting and heatmaps, while Ward method was used for hierarchical clustering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study aimed to understand the extent of similarities and differences in learning behavior across the cohorts, providing insights into how students interact with course material over a semester.
