You will gain an understanding of what open science is and why it is something you should care about. Collaboration, sharing scientifically grounded knowledge as well as following legislation, principles of responsible research, research ethics and good scientific practices at all stages of the research are all integral parts of open science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">This material consists of five modules:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/bors\/module-1-introduction-to-os\/\">Module 1: Introduction to open and responsible science<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/bors\/module-2-citizen-science\/\">Module 2: Citizen science<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/bors\/module-3-open-access-publishing\/\">Module 3: Open access publishing<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/bors\/module-4-open-research-data\/\">Module 4: Open research data<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uef.fi\/bors\/module-5-open-education\/\">Module 5: Open education<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">After studying the material, you can\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>explain the basic concepts of open and responsible science and evaluate the opportunities, benefits, and challenges of open science.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>consider the impact of key open science policies and recommendations on your own research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>apply open science practices and utilise open science services at different stages of your research lifecycle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to use this learning material<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone can use this open study material for self-studying. You can find the page menu from the upper right corner. You can view the subpages by clicking on the plus symbol. There are plenty of links in the study material. Consider opening the links in a new tab so you don\u2019t get lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UEF and YUFE postgraduate students: If you want to earn the credits (2 ECTS), you need to register for this course (code: 8000EO42) via Peppi (UEF students) or via <a href=\"https:\/\/virtualcampus.yufe.eu\/p\/course\/MTteEeqvwpYQ5ybx\">YUFE Virtual Campus<\/a> (YUFE students). The teacher will contact you for more details after your registration. You will complete three elective modules in addition to the introductory module that is mandatory for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you start<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First, consider what do you already know about open science. What kind of themes and concepts relates to it? How have you practiced open science so far? Then, go through this material.
